  2. I’ve learnt in life that there is almost definitely always a way to keep going…even when your body is telling you no…and especially when every moment counts. The rules are unpredictable with my bone condition - inevitably there comes many an occasion where strength fails and I have to take a moment to recover. No matter how hard I try, the Farmers Carry is the station where I make the most time sacrifice. In my mind, the key is to stay mentally resilient. I strongly believe that the brain can absolutely always keep moving even when the body can go no more. In my mind, there is a huge difference between resting for a breather and recovering with purpose. It often takes intense discipline and concentration when your body is screaming inside. My rule is to count down in my head a consistent number of seconds with each drop of the kettlebell before promptly resolving to go again, no matter what, no excuses, immediately, no hesitation, when that countdown hits zero. I think it’s otherwise very very easy to listen to the voices in your head telling you to take a bit longer! Thank you to everyone for the support and thank you for another incredible event! IRONMAN on crutches… what did I learn? ⬇️ First off, HUGE thanks to @sportsdirectuk @puma.uk for supporting the IMpossible dream 🙏 *** Swim: 01:16:36 Bike: 07:40:36 Run: DNF* @ 21.6 km *** After years of dreaming, yes, there’s great disappointment. It’s taken some reflection but I’ve learnt enough to know that nothing is ever wasted, nothing is lost…there is no “almost”. Experience is the greatest teacher. Every step is all part of the fire of being fully IN this life, and we can hold both pride and pain without attaching to either. But let’s not deny, this race truly broke me. I believed if I made it to the run, that sheer heart and grit would carry me to the finish. But heart and grit don’t protect the bones and each fall on the cobbles chipped away more than just energy. Endless thanks to my support crew—Rachel, Josh & Angus ❤️—without them, even reaching the start line wouldn’t have been possible. In the aftermath, dark questions have lingered: will my body recover? Was this my only chance? The fragilities of my bones are a daily reminder to maintain strength and to just keep moving. To chase something bigger and to give everything knowing you might break is its own kind of glory. It is not to be defeated but to be reminded of the gift of movement and the inevitability of time, and that there are some goals so worthy that it feels glorious even to fail. It is the single most powerful thing which is driving me to make the most of every single moment whilst I still can.
