The more time that goes by, the more it all seems so real. That I actually got healthier. That I actually lost a significant amount of weight. That I actually did the thing I’ve been writing on my New Year’s resolution list since I was a teen. That I actually changed my lifestyle. I’ve wanted to lose weight for as long as I can remember but I didn’t always have the goal of getting healthy. I spent so many years wanting to lose weight just to be smaller, just to fit in, just to be liked. And I wanted a quick fix to help me get there. I didn’t want to change the way I lived, just the way I looked. It wasn’t until I decided I truly wanted to transform my day to day life, and I really wanted to gain health, that I was able to make a lasting change. I had to accept that it would take effort for the rest of my life, not just for a season. But anything worth having does. Anything worth having will take an investment of your time, energy and effort. And my health, a FULL life, is absolutely worth that investment. The hard part is you don’t always know that it will be worth it. You have to trust the process. You have to show up even when the results aren’t showing up. If you can do that for yourself, you will change your life!

I never liked the idea of becoming a “before and after” when I started my journey. I still don’t like it. I don’t like that the changes you can see are the least important changes. I don’t like that some people will assume it was about the looks for me. I don’t like the idea of comparing my past body to my current body. I don’t like emphasizing the changes to my appearance. But, this is social media and it’s a visual platform. So, I share “before and after” style posts even though I never wanted to. Because if it takes seeing the changes I’ve had on the outside for someone to examine how they feel on the inside, it’s worth it. I don’t want to impress people with the weight I’ve lost, I’d rather impress them with the life that I’ve gained. This version of me is not better than the past version of me because I’m smaller. This version of me is better because I’m healthier and more capable and stronger and more confident and free! This version of me is better because I’m no longer neglecting my physical health. I’m no longer denying the effects that my previous lifestyle had on my body, my heart, my mind and my spirit. This version of me is better because I’m living a fuller life! I wish there was a way to show you “before and afters” that capture all of those changes because that is what matters most! I don’t like the idea of “before and after” posts because it doesn’t give enough credit to the journey. It focuses more on the results than the process. Who I am and what I look like at any given moment will never be my final results. Because what a sad place to be… done. I will always be evolving. I will always be growing. I will always be more than a body transformation. I will always be more than a weight loss story. I will always be more than an “after” version of myself. This is not my “after”… this is my “during”… this is my life. I will always be a work in progress! ☺️

I’ve wanted to lose weight for as long as I can remember. The first time I was made fun of for my weight was in 3rd grade. I started dieting on and off as a preteen. And since then I had been writing “lose weight” on my New Year’s resolution list year after year. But I never made it happen until I started this journey 2 1/2 years ago. Why is this time different? That is why I’m where I am today. I started with my mindset and began implementing habit changes slowly. I started eating more nutritiously and eventually incorporated tracking my calories. I started by walking for small amounts of time and continued to find new ways to move my body. I stayed consistent with my new healthy habits even when the results weren’t what I wanted them to be. It has been a challenging and exhausting journey but it has also been a rewarding and life-giving one! INGREDIENTS 1oz grated parmesan divided, +more for salad topping if desired 1 cup shredded chicken (comment RECIPE for my batch prep hacks) 2 + cups romaine lettuce 1-2 tbsp ceasar dressing DIRECTIONS •Cook your chicken (for my batch prep method comment RECIPE) •Prep your salad by washing and cutting your lettuce and adding dressing •Plug in your mini waffle maker and add 1/4 of your cheese, followed by 1/2 cup chicken, and the same amount of cheese on top. •Cook for about 3 minutes, making sure to put pressure on the lid part of the time. •Gently lift up, and repeat again for second chaffle. •Plate, add your salad n top followed by more parmesan cheese if desired and enjoy! *note I topped with with more salad after filming which is included in the macros! INGREDIENTS •1 watermelon (small-medium) •3-5 cups of fruit depending on side of watermelon (I used grapes, strawberries, oranges and blueberries) •1/2 cup room temperature water •1/2 cup hot water •2 tbsp gelatin •2 cups protein water INSTRUCTIONS •Wash and prep your fruit. •Chop off the top or side of your watermelon and scoop out most of the insides. •Fill with prepped fruit. •Prep your jello filling- add 2 tbsp gelatin with 1/2 cup room temperature water and mix before adding 1/2 cup of hot water. •Let sit 1-2 minutes then mix in 2 cups of protein water. •Pour gelatin mix into watermelon until filled. •Put watermelon in the fridge for at least 4 hours to ensure the gelatin has set. •Once set, slice and enjoy! A little reminder 😇 It is not your job or your responsibility to make sure someone else’s cookies do not go to waste • Those cookies etc have already served their purpose outside of your mouth 👄 • They brought pleasure, joy, and entertainment to the person who made them • Learnjng how to cope with “loss aversion” is something I continually have to work at, but it is at the core of food sanity and emotional sobriety • There a FREEDOM in saying “It is not my job or my responsibility to make sure someone else’s cookies/money/effort does not go to waste” (if you still feel guilty take it to a church or homeless area) • BOTTOM LINE: the money and time is already spent.
