Easy like a Sunday Morning I have always loved the lyrics to this song because they have always ran much deeper than the song title implies. “Everybody wants me to be what they want me to be… I’m not happy when I try to fake it.” I think as women, that conditioning starts early. To be agreeable. Be “sugar and spice and all things nice.” Unsurprisingly I’m now heavy on the spice! And even when you think you’ve moved past it, it is still there. The constant backing track playing in the deepest recesses of your mind, trying to pull you back into something smaller. For me, style has always been part of that push and pull. A City Girl’s Countryside Escape If you followed my stories last week, you may have noticed I spent the night at Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa, situated in the leafy Wiltshire countryside just outside Warminster. For this city girl, the real highlight was escaping to a slice of tranquillity. When you live in London, a change of pace like this is something you really appreciate! Hold your horses… it’s Suede Season! This shoot definitely did not start the way I had planned. I burnt the velvet tie so had to cut it short. Missed my tube by a matter of seconds (close enough to touch it) so was late for my photographer. Then a last minute styling change that really was the last unplanned straw! So many moments where I thought this entire shoot had fallen apart. But you roll with the punches because you know some days are a bit like that sometimes… So you improvise, and occasionally - something even better comes out of it. Two looks.
