WHISTLER by Ann Pathett ♡Thank you to my friends at @harperbooks #harperbookspartner for the gifted print copy and @harperaudio for the gifted audiobook! ⇢ Print + Audiobook Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌿My Thoughts ✨I can’t tell you how much I absolutely loved this book. I need to start by telling you that you can’t let the horse on the cover scare you away if you’re not into horses. Yes, there’s a horse in the book, and yes, it’s important to the story, but it’s not the focal point. This is largely an NYC set story, and whether you love horses or could take them or leave them, YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS BOOK (and you’re going to love the horse, I promise!) ✨At its heart, this is a story about friendship, family, love, loss, memory and the connections that shape our lives. The author just so effort

Review | Whistler by Ann Patchett Thank you @harperbooks for the gifted ARC. What the book is about: When Daphne Fuller and her husband, Jonathan, visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, they notice an older, white-haired gentleman following them. The man turns out to be Eddie Triplett, her former stepfather, who had been married to her mother for a little more than a year when Daphne was nine. Now fifty-three, Daphne hasn’t seen Eddie in many years, not since the fateful event that changed the course of both their lives. When they meet again, time falls away. Although their relationship was brief, it had a profound impact on both of them, and now that they are reunited, they have no intention of being separated again. My thoughts: Ann Patchett is an author I trust for great storytelling. Wh

What was the last historical novel you read? • • Roy and Sam grew up together in the mountains of Virginia, and when Ennis enters the picture, it changes everything. Sam is the pastor’s daughter, Roy’s family owns everything in the valley, and Ennis literally came from nothing. But once they get past the initial awkwardness, Roy and Ennis become like brothers and end up fighting in the Great War together in France. For me, this book was all about the friendship between Ennis and Roy and I didn’t expect that at all. I thought it was going to be more of a romance, but I loved how these boys became men and grew into a relationship much like brothers. Parts of it were a little uneven, but overall this was an enjoyable read. • • ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 • • Thanks to @harperbooks for the #gifted ARC. CHILDREN

What is your first read for May? • • I’m keeping this simple… I am such a huge fan of Ann Patchett’s writing and this is definitely one of her best. WHISTLER is an easy five stars for me. I loved it. • • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ • • Thanks to @harperbooks for the #gifted ARCand @harperaudio for the early audiobook. I heard a rumor that I hope isn’t true, that this might be Patchett’s final novel. If so, she could have a second career as an audiobook narrator. Her narration of this book was perfect.

⚠️ Content warning: the next slide contains blood imagery, so please proceed with care. I’ve been so excited to finally share this piece 🤍 My first artwork for The Ballad Of Falling Dragons by @sarah.a.parker.author … and definitely the first of many more to come because Kaan and Raeve have completely taken over my brain. This story left such an impression on me, and ever since finishing it I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them. There’s something about these two and the emotions woven into this book that feels so consuming in the best way possible. I hoped this piece could capture even a tiny sliver of what I felt while reading , the ache, the love, the intensity, all of it. I can’t wait to hear everyone’s thoughts on Ballad because this story has stayed with me in such a specia

#Bookmail and why am I excited to read it? First of all, @uzmajalaluddin is an absolutely phenomenal writer. I remember listening to her speaking at a book event and it was such a pleasure and I thought I am sure I’ll love all of her books! And was never disappointed. And then there is a whole concept of this cozy series about an auntie investigating murders. Who wouldn’t want to read it? And I mean aunties’ investigative skills are known to be way beyond proficient. And Toronto setting ♥️. 📚Blurb: Kausar Khan, the Detective Aunty, returns in a new case about the mysterious death of a young man in the Golden Crescent neighbourhood, which draws her back to the unresolved death of her son twenty years ago… When Kausar Khan decided to move back to Toronto to be closer to her family, she didn

The Ending Writes Itself by Evelyn Clarke (V.E. Schwab & Cat Clarke) It’s part mystery, part satire, and very much a look at the chaos behind the publishing world, ego, competition, and all. Six struggling writers get invited to an exclusive retreat on a remote Scottish island. The host, a famous thriller author, has died before finishing his final book. So now the plan is: 🔪 one of them will finish it 🔪 they’ve got 72 hours 🔪 and there’s a massive payout + career boost on the line No pressure. Except: 🔪 they’re completely cut off from the outside world 🔪 tensions are already high 🔪 and, people start dying What Worked for Me: ⚡ Writers competing to finish a dead author’s book? I was in immediately ⚡ Chaotic, unlikeable characters ⚡ Each author has a distinct voice and way of seeing t
