Can your subfloor adhesive hold my weight? 🤣🤣🤣 Doubt it. Did you know that gluing your subfloor to the joists isn't required by code? Why do it? It actually makes the assembly stronger. Joists span slightly farther and we reduce the possibility of squeaks down the road. The fasteners provide strength for the floor diaphragm and often engineers spec the actual fastener length and diameter. . We've been using this adhesive since 2017. Do you use this tool? . Big Pee Vee Wall Puller. Used this since the 80's, they've been around longer. The wall sheathing will connect from the blocking all the way down to the basement mudsill. Since the joists run parallel with this wall, I prefer to nail along the outside of the bottom plate and hit rim. I'm using a 3" nail which will penetrate the subfloor into the rim, but the fasteners that connect the subfloor to the rim actually stick down farther. No need to worry about other trades, they won't hit either these nails, nor the subfloor fasteners which are required for the floor diaphragm. This will is a 4,000lb rake wall and you can see how easily I can pull it to the line. #framersareadyingbreed #framerlife #framing #huberpartner

2x8 risers are glued (previous video). Start at the bottom, this ensures the rest will install the same. Install a middle, then install all of them. These nails won't squeak over time. My stairs dont squeak and I installed them in 2002 with inferior glue. Since the stringer material AND the riser material are imperfect, leave your perfectionist tendencies at home. Or better yet, give them to the zero post peanut gallery. If these stairs were going to be finished in something other than carpetn, then we'd pick and pay for different materials. The 2x8 riser allows for a strong connection to the stringer and as a better nailing base for the treads (next video).
