Homecoming Times Two ‼️ Bringing a B-52 back to Loring Air Force Base for the 30th anniversary of its closure this weekend was significant in so many ways, but especially for SSgt @kaylie.lepage - because this was the first time she got to bring her plane back to her home state! Kaylie grew up in Winterport and is now stationed in Minot, North Dakota as an active duty member of the US Air Force. She still takes a ton of pride in her home state, especially the maple syrup! I absolutely LOVED meeting her and getting a tour of such a historic aircraft. Getting to go into the cockpit was SO COOL! Save ⏬️ Every Sugar Shack Has A Slightly Different Set-Up, But The Process Is Similar: • You need the correct trees: while you can use the sap from several different kinds of maples, sugar maples have the highest concentration of sugar • Sap flow from sugar maples is entirely temperature dependent. Ideal nights are around 20°f. A rise in temperature of the sapwood to above 32°F causes a positive pressure within the wood. This is probably my favorite treehouse I have ever stayed in, AND the owners were so friendly and kind. When I visit unique stays, I love learning why these places exist—because, honestly, building a bunch of treehouses is a lot of work so what was the motivation? The land that @seguintreedwellings sits on is adjacent to a local Maine family’s childhood home—a forest that two brothers spent their childhood playing in. So when it became available, they bought it, climbed a tree, and decided to make treehouses. It’s a family affair—both brothers are married and have children and it’s all hands on deck to create such a unique experience. Every single aspect of these treehouses is so intentionally thought out! They even created a gathering space for events like small weddings or corporate retr
