Filmmaking 101: The four areas I focus on to best execute my ideas: Narrative - Every great film starts with a story worth telling. Your narrative is what keeps viewers engaged, it’s the backbone that everything else supports. Without a clear story, even beautiful visuals risk fall flat! Lighting - This is how I shape emotion and direct focus. Good lighting creates depth, adds contrast, and can completely transform the mood of a scene. It’s the difference between a flat image and one that feels cinematic. Composition - How you frame your shot determines what your audience sees and feels. Strong composition guides the viewer’s eye, draws attention to important details, and turns ordinary moments into visually compelling frames 🤌🏼 MUSIC - This might be the most crucial element for me. I do love a static shot, they always feel the most cinematic! So I thought I would share my 3 favourite tricks that I use the most and what i look out for filming. 1. The most simple one that I always make sure to look out for is: something moving within the static shot; a person walking, a car driving past, a dog… honestly anything. But if there is a person this allows the viewer to envisage themselves in the environment as well as understand the scale of a place. 2. Another one to look out for is natural elements moving such; running water, trees blowing in the wind, insects buzzing around in the light, dusty gravel and I’m sure there’s lots more than I’m not even thinking of whilst writing this! Again this just makes sure that the shot isn’t boring and so it doesn’t just look like a pho
