Bookmail: Thank you @randomhouse and @ballantinebooks for my gifted copy! #RandomHousePartner Did I judge a book by its cover? Did I just found out it’s two series and this is the start of the second? Yes. Am I going to probably make this my entire personality? Also yes. I love a present day seres with a millennia ago type background and having that as its own series is literal catnip. (Beneath is the prequel that starts the trilogy, happening 200 years before Conform) Out tomorrow, y’all better grab it. QOTD: Describe your current read with 4 words!

…some recent #bookmail… It’s the thing I love most about running a book social media account…new books!! Yes, humble brag, but I do end up getting a LOT of books in the mail…whether they’re advanced reader copies (ARCs) or just books I pre-ordered (cut to me with 3 copies of THIS STORY MIGHT SAVE YOUR LIFE because of course I pre-ordered it months ago and forgot when I went to the bookstore this week), there’s no better feeling than coming home to a stack of book-shaped packages on the kitchen counter. And please accept my apologies, because I’ve done a terrible job of showing you what I’ve received lately. My bad, but here I am to course-correct, because even I am overwhelmed with a lot of the big (BIG) books hitting my doorstep lately. Thanks as always to the tagged #partner publi

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW🎧 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗕𝘆 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲𝗻 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 2.24.26 Thank you @randomhousebooks for the gifted eBook via @NetGalley and thank you @PRHaudio for the gifted audiobook. #PRHAudioPartner It’s been a few years since I read an Anna Quindlen book, and as I listened to this story, I was reminded why I enjoyed her stories so much. Her writing is tender and natural, making for a true comfort read. Polly’s journey is somewhat predictable here; when a DNA test is given as a birthday gift by her bookclub stirs up questions. But what made this so heartwarming and enjoyable were the people who surrounded her along the way. She has a supportive husband, and I loved the open dialogue between her and her brother. I absolutely adored (and envie

Book Review 📖 Life: A Love Story (#48) 4.25⭐️/ I really liked it! Swipe for @goodreads synopsis 🧸 Need a quick read that will lift your spirits and remind you of what’s important? This is the winner right here. Thank you to @randomhousebooks for my #gifted sneak peek. This is out tomorrow! 🧸 The book is written from the perspective of 92-year-old Flo Greene who has recently been given weeks to live. She has decided to leave a former neighbor girl (now grown) her home and all its contents, and sits down to write a letter explaining why, as well as the story behind some items in the home. 🧸 This is such a sweet reflection on life from Flo. She doesn’t describe the most expensive items in the house, but rather things like a thrifted toothpick holder, a rubber band, a teddy bear— and why t

Book Mail - Camille Bordas Thank you @randomhousebooks for the gifted copies. I somehow missed The Material when it came out a couple years ago, which sounds so good and right up my alley. I’m really glad Bordas now has a short story collection (with a spectacular cover) that has put her writing on my radar. Find out more about each book below: The Material: Can comedy be taught? Someone, at some point, seemed to think so. The Chicago Stand-Up MFA program has enrolled young comedians for nearly a decade. Set on a single momentous day transforms the lives of students and professors and riffing keenly across a diverse array of precision-cut perspectives, The Material examines life through the eyes of a reluctantly assembled ensemble, a band of outsiders bound together by the need to laugh an

Thank you to @hogarthbooks @randomhouse for sending me Fox by Joyce Carol Oates. This is the second book I’ve read of hers. I liked the concept and I somewhat liked the writing. CW: it follows a teacher who has illegal and pedophilic relationships with his young girl students, and it follows him closely. So be warned. That subject matter doesn’t scare me away, but I found this book overly detailed, digging into too many characters, and the voice just for some reason didn’t connect or click for me. The POV shifts didn’t help either, as some of the characters felt like, why do I care, this isn’t adding anything. It felt like… and this sounds silly, but a lot of words? Like too many words? Lol. It took me a really long time to get through. Like a couple of months with some other books in betw

THE WIDOW 📖 book review • out now ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.5) thank you @randomhouse @doubledaybooks for my #gifted copy and hat #doubledaypartner an elderly widow turns up to Simon’s law office in need of a new will. his marriage is crumbling, and this widow happens to have been left a small fortune that nobody knows about. simon agrees to keep her wealth under wraps, but after an accident, Simon finds himself facing murder charges. this was actually my first john grisham novel - and I will keep him in mind if I’m ever looking for a legal thriller to read. the mystery of the book wasn’t overly exciting, but it did keep my interest. it was also quite long so that made it feel a bit drawn out at times. pick this one up if you’re in the mood for a book about lawyers behaving badly and small town secrets.
