Some pontificating about perspective because I was STOKED to hit 315 on the smith machine the other day. I’ve had to slowly, and I mean slowly, work my way back up in loading after destroying my knee last year in an accident and subsequently reinjuring my back due to compensation and my own aggression when it came to trying to get back to it too quickly and this has breathed some life into my lungs. Compared to my bears as an all time world record setting powerlifter this is NOTHING but for where I am now? It’s everything. The journey means more than the destination. And everyone says this until they find themselves embarking on YET ANOTHER after they had found their preconceived “finish line” another time. But get used to it, because life is evolution if you stick around long enough 😎 🔨

I have clients tell me they want to lost 50 lbs in 3 months…not a healthy way to go for most clients. Taking the long road on this is the most healthy way and has been proven to lead to long term results. . When launching a fat loss wave I recommend losing no more than 10% of your body weight over a 10-12 week period. Then take 10 weeks to maintain that new weight loss before losing an additional 10% over 10-12 weeks if that is your goal. You all know I’m a big believer in an intelligent, structured, and tracked training approach. Unfortunately, the conversation around “optimal training” has been soured by influencers and coaches who post rage bait content of them flapping around in the gym with cuffs on their biceps telling us that it’s better than an incline barbell press. At the end of the day, you’ve got to enjoy your training. Compliance is the science—whatever you can stick to consistently is what’s going to work best.
