At the very end of this clip, I even have some fun with the festival cameraman 😂 I’ve seen this recently with a few of my drum students — getting frustrated when something doesn’t go perfectly. The truth is, getting upset rarely fixes anything and usually makes things worse. I’ve said this for years: 👉 Aim for progress, not perfection. Progress is achievable. Perfection is not. Balance. Not exactly Christmas bells 🔔… but I’m definitely getting my bell on 😉 Here’s a fun groove from a recent session using my @sabiancymbals Custom 21” Power Bell Ride and 9” Radia Chime, locking in with the song, chasing guitar runs with fills, then settling back into a few different beats to serve the music. Hope you dig it 👊 I won’t be behind the kit for a bit because of the holidays and that’s okay. Sometimes the best thing you can do for creativity is step away. Your mind needs rest. Your body needs rest. I’ve taken weeks off before tours, come back focused, practiced less, and played better. Why? Because even the things we love still require recovery. The key part… Don’t beat yourself up for taking a break. Too many of us stay locked in “go mode” and forget to actually live.
