  1. Growing up I definitely never thought about mortgages, let alone getting a career in it. 🤓 👧I wanted to be a lawyer (to be fair, I was 3 years old and didn’t know what it even meant) 👮 Then a cop or in the army. 🏃‍♀️ Then a sport psychologist (for Boxing Canada 🥊) I genuinely wanted to help 💛 people in a meaningful way, but all those roles ultimately weren’t for me in my heart. When we met our mortgage broker, I was amazed because they weren’t just looking at income and debt and going to rubber stamp my application with a big ✅ green approval or ❌ decline. As they went through and asked questions, like: ❓Do you have kids? ❓ Do you want more? ❓ Do you have an RESP set up? ❓ Do you have insurance? ❓ Do you have savings? ❓ Do you owe money on taxes? ❓ Do you have a will? And they, with no pressure, just offered us options which ultimately: 💛Saved us significantly on income taxes 💛Helped us remove credit blemishes we didn’t even know existed (and fast) 💛Explained why in our instance it was better to buy a house a bit higher in private range than the starter home we wanted for 2 years - and broke down the numbers 💛Connected us with someone for information on a will and investments when we were ready for that. And, even though I grew up with a RBC Bank 🏦 Manager in my house, I am not ashamed to say - I had zero financial knowledge as a young adult. And I think the world would be much better, if we financial literacy was a top priority in math class, and less calculus (although that was my favourite high school subject, thank you Mr. Acton!) Until that day, I will keep sharing what I learn and hope it helps you! 💛 #financialliteracy #financialeducation #themoreyouknow #budgetingtips #creditscore #creditliteracy
