  1. Ever get the classic “You’ve got dirt on your forehead!” comment on Ash Wednesday? Tomorrow we will see people with cross (or smudges) of dark dirt on their foreheads, but it’s not dirt…it’s a profound reminder: “Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return” (or “Repent and believe in the Gospel”). The ashes say: “I’m a sinner.” But the cross says: “I have a Savior.” As Fr. Mike Schmitz beautifully puts it: The ashes mean I’m not who I should be, but the cross means there’s a God who believes in me so fully that He’s making me into who He created me to be. This simple sacramental (sacred sign or practice instituted by the Church that prepares our hearts to receive God’s grace and helps us live out our baptism in daily life.) invites us into Lent’s 40 days of prayer, fasting, and mercy: echoing Jesus’ own wilderness journey and ancient biblical signs of repentance. Next, we will talk about Lent and how to observe and why! #AshWednesday #Lent #Christianity #Catholicism #catholic Resources cited in the reel: * Genesis 3:19 * Matthew 11:21 (Luke 10:13) * Jonah 3:5-6 * Job 42:6 * Matthew 4:1-11 * Fr. Mike Schmitz, Ascension Presents (The Significance of Ash Wednesday) * Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 1670 (on sacramentals) * Directory on Popular Piety and Liturgy, no. 125 🤓Further education: * Book:Return: A Lenten Invitation to Come Home to God by Fr. John Burns (Ave Maria Press) – A guided journey through Lent with weekly reflections. * Video: “The Significance of Ash Wednesday” by Fr. Mike Schmitz (Ascension Presents on YouTube) – Short, powerful explanation of the ashes’ deeper meaning. * Article: “Why Ashes?” from the USCCB (usccb.org) – Official overview of the tradition’s biblical roots and purpose.

  1. On September 7, Blessed Carlo Acutis will be canonized—the first Millennial saint. 🥹 He died in 2006 from leukemia at just 15 years old. He loved the Eucharist, created a website to catalog Eucharistic miracles, and offered his suffering to God. But he also played video games, wore Nikes, and lived in the same digital world we grew up in. He saw what we saw, he knew the culture we knew, and he still chose heaven. As a Millennial, his canonization stirs something deep in me. He is one of us. I call us the JPII generation—those who were lit on fire by a Pope, now Saint, during our most formative years. He told us not to be afraid, and many of us believed him. We chose ministry over money, community over comfort, the Church over the world. We got theology degrees, started ministries, became youth ministers, Catholic school teachers, sisters, priests, moms and dads who believed we were meant to embody the faith in a different way not because it was easy, but because it was worth it. We were told that sainthood wasn’t just for clergy and religious! We are a unique generation in the Church. I haven’t seen anything quite like us before or since. And Blessed Carlo is the fruit of that fervor. A product of the hope we were given, and the hope we’re still called to embody. His canonization echoes more than honoring one holy teenager. It’s about recognizing an entire generation who still dares to believe that sainthood is not only possible—but necessary. This is a mirror being held up to us. It’s our turn to look into it and rise. We were made for heaven too. #carloacutis #canonization #catholicsaints #holiness #catholics #catholicnews #vaticannews

  2. Micah, I miss you. There is a deep, aching hole in my heart. Even though our home is filled with people, it’s too quiet without you. I keep thinking I’ll look outside and see you laughing on the swings. Or you’ll slowly open my door and walk up to my bed and that I’ll hear your sweet voice saying, “Mama?” Oh, the pain is indescribable. And yet, you have shown us in multiple ways that you are with us. It’s not the same joy as holding your hand or hearing your voice, but there is an unexplainable joy that only comes with knowing you are with Jesus. That you are in our true home. And that you are very, very happy. I can picture your smile that would light up the room. I can hear you laughing and screaming as you run with your arms out. I can see you dancing and spinning in circles. I know you are running into the arms of every Saint you meet with that big grin and saying, “Hi, I’m Micah.” It’s easy to picture these things because this is what you did when you were alive on earth. Please continue to visit me and help mama keep going. You were always such a good helper and eager to make me smile. And I will keep asking for your help. My boy. I am so proud of you. Yesterday was the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. I was reminded of how much you loved singing the Ave Maria after our prayers and how you said “Mama Mary is the goodest girl in the whole entire world.” Well, now you’re in Heaven with her. And I’ll be there soon. Hold her hand until I get there. Keep swinging on the swings with Jesus, Micah. “Do whatever He tells you.” John 2:5

  3. It’s been one week since we had to leave the hospital. One week since it was decided that you would never step foot into our house again. Leaving you alone in that room and walking away was the most gut-wrenching thing I’ve ever had to do. Every motherly bone in my body ached at how wrong it felt. It’s also been one week of witnessing your little miracles. One week of seeing signs of you and feeling your little “hellos”. I never expected how the pain and the consolation would go hand in hand. How each breath in my lungs would burn with the fact that we have to live on without you. And how each smile in my memory would give me visions of your smiles in Heaven. I think back on the prayers I said while in the hospital, over and over again: Please, God. I’m begging you. Let me take his place. I’ll do anything. God, why are you doing this? Lord, if it be Your will, let this cup pass from me. Oh Jesus, I surrender myself to You. Take care of everything. Let all this be for Your glory. God, You are so good. In the midst of my sorrow and grief, we experienced a lot of peace. I felt so loved, protected, held up by the Body of Christ. And it began to make sense when Micah became a light for others. Through him, the Lord has been giving purpose to our pain, and revealing His presence, His mercy, and His promise of eternal life. I’ve never desired Heaven more than I do now. Jesus, you gave us the most beautiful and precious gift of salvation. You gave us Your body, You laid down Your life on that cross. And you have asked me to give my most beautiful and precious gift of my child. To give up his little body and lay his life down at Your feet. And because of Your promises, because You are so good, I surrender. “But we do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, about those who have fallen asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will God, through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen asleep.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

  1. 🌹📿 EXPLAINED ↴ “Do Catholics worship Mary?”
❌ No. We don’t. Worship is for God alone. But we do honor Mary — profoundly — because God honored her first. 🪽 Luke 1:28 tells us the angel greets her as “full of grace.” Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, calls her “blessed among women” (Luke 1:42). And Mary herself proclaims, “All generations will call me blessed” (Luke 1:48). We simply obey that. 💕 At the cross, Jesus gives Mary to John — and to all of us. “Behold your mother” (John 19:27). He could have said anything in His final moments — and He gave us her. ✨ In Revelation 12, we see “a woman clothed with the sun… and on her head a crown of twelve stars” (Rev. 12:1). This is Mary — mother of the male child who will rule all nations (Rev. 12:5). She is seen reigning in heaven — not as a goddess, but as a mother. 👸 In ancient Israel, the queen was not the king’s wife, but his mother. She held the title Gebirah, or “Great Lady.” Solomon placed a throne for his mother at his right hand (1 Kings 2:19). In the kingdom of Christ — the Son of David — Mary is His queen mother. ⚜️ We honor her not instead of Christ, but because of Him. Mary always points to her Son and says what she said at Cana: “Do whatever He tells you” (John 2:5). ❤️‍🔥 And if you still don’t believe this, go and take a look at Martin Luther’s Sermon on Christmas in 1531, where he explicitly states that “We can never honor her [Mary] enough. Still honor and praise must be given to her in such a way as to injure neither Christ nor the Scriptures.” #mary #mothermary #catholicism #catholiclife #catholicfaith #christianity #catholic #catholicliving #christianliving #christianlife #catholicchurch #jesuslovesyou #marianconsecration #christianwomen #christiangirlboss #christiangirl #catholicgirl #catholicwomen #catholicmom #catholictruth #catholictradition #traditionexplained #traditionaltheology #theology #theologymatters #catholictheology #catholiccontentcreator
