  2. If you saw last week's video, this will look very familiar. The back story is that @sageindendi had just released a permit not 5 minutes earlier. After she released it, I got on the deck and striped off 80ft or so of fly line. Then I looked at the fly and noticed the eyes were missing. After quickly finding and tying on a new fly, I looked up and saw a fish feed not 50ft away. With no time to spare, I cast 5ft infront of the fish, and he raced over to the fly and devoured it . On the cast, I knew my fly line was in a pile because I hadn't had time to stack and straighten it out, so I wasn't sure if it the knot would come out or go through the guides. As the line picked up, I loosened the bottom ferrule to hedge my bets. Sure enough, the line wasn't going to clear, so I threw the top of the rod in the water. After the first run, we were able to get the top of the rod back and the knot undone. A hookup that could have ended in disaster was narrowly avoided. Moral of the story.
