  1. more information and details 👇✨ When I was trying to figure out the best way to get from SLC to Reno, @quingable recommended I take the train! I honestly forget this exists half the time because the few times I do look, it’s usually $. This time around, the price of a private room with a lay flat bed was going to be cheaper than flying and the timing lined up way better! Plus since it’s overnight, it doubled as my accommodation + transportation. This is an Amtrak train and I booked my ticket on their website. The price of my room was $219 and that included my bags and breakfast. I brought a 30L backpack and my snowboard bag. Even though the room I had was able to fit two people, you would definitely be squished. There are larger rooms available as well for more $. Overall, I found it to be worth it! It was a fun experience, I didn’t have to drive, and I didn’t have to worry about flying with my board bag. I did end up booking Coach for the return train from CA > Utah and documented that experience as well :) I have take coach before from NE to Chicago years ago as well! #solofemaletraveler #amtrack #lifeontheroad #sleepertrain

Send this to that person you’re planning your adventures with this summer!🙌🏼⛰️🌅🏕️ 📍Peyto Lake Sunset or sunrise at Peyto Lake is a great way to avoid the crowds! One of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Canadian rockies and I had this spot pretty much to myself! Don’t forget to bring a flashlight or headland and your bear spray - there was a bear there just 5 minutes before I arrived! 📍Lake Louise Sunrise at Lake Louise is busy so if you are driving it is recommend to arrive before 6am or the lot may be full. Parking cost $36.75. The main shoreline area is usually crowded but if you keep walking along the shore, you can find a spot all to yourself. 📍Moraine Lake Cars are not allowed to park at the entrance so you will need to book a shuttle beforehand. To get the iconic view of the lake, hike the rock pile trail. It’s a short walk with 33 ft of elevation gain. #banff #canadianrockies #canada #explorecanada #peytolake #morainelake #lakelouise

  1. ‼️Details in caption ⤵️ The Eibsee is definitely one of my favorite lakes in Germany. I’ve been here several times in winter and in summer. This was the first time I took my bike with me. I didn’t have a clear plan, I just wanted to ride around and explore new paths. And this is how I ended up at Eibsee. 🏞️ I started the tour at the train station of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and rode upstream along the river „Loisach“. After about 10km the trail starts to get steeper. This is when I started to regret not having an e-bike. Highly recommended for this tour as the trail is really steep. The descent from the top of the mountain to the lake is really fun. I had a break and a short swim in the icy cold lake. During the golden hour in the evening I enjoyed the beautiful lights surrounded by mountains in the meadow. I ended the tour back at the train station in Garmisch. All in all about 40 kilometers and many beautiful views! 🚵🏼‍♀️ I really want to recommend going out without big plans sometimes. Just go with the flow and see where things take you. Vor drei Jahren hätte ich wahrscheinlich selbst nicht geglaubt, dass sich all das irgendwann völlig normal anfühlen würde. 🇸🇪🌲 Heute freue ich mich bei 20 Grad über einen richtig warmen Sommertag. Zwei Stunden Autofahrt fühlen sich nach „gleich um die Ecke“ an. Und Kaffee trinken bedeutet meistens Thermoskanne, Zimtschnecken und ein See irgendwo mitten im Wald. Sieben Stunden wandern und keinem Menschen begegnen? Für mich fühlt sich das eher nach Luxus als nach Einsamkeit an. Und vielleicht ist das die größte Lektion, die mir das Leben in Nordschweden beigebracht hat: Hier oben wird unglaublich viel gearbeitet. Aber genauso viel gelebt. Es gibt Zeit zum Angeln. Zum Beerenpflücken. Für eine Fika in der Sonne. Und dafür, einfach mal nichts zu tun. Man muss sie sich nur nehmen. Vielleicht ist genau das das Besondere an Schweden. Nicht, dass das Leben hier einfacher wäre.   2. Ich wusste, dass das Leben hier oben in Nordschweden rauer ist. Dass man vieles selbst macht. Dass ein altes Schwedenhaus Arbeit bedeutet. Und dass Outdoor hier oben weniger Hobby als einfach Teil des Alltags ist. Trotzdem merke ich immer wieder, dass viele Menschen beim Gedanken an Schweden zuerst an Bullerbü denken. An Blumenkränze. Weiße Sommerkleider. Weite, goldene Felder. Und rote Holzhäuser wie aus einem Bilderbuch. Und ja… …genau dieses Schweden gibt es. Für mich fühlt sich das eher nach Südschweden an. Unser Alltag hier oben im Norden sieht oft anders aus. Rauer. Ehrlicher. Ursprünglicher. Wer hier lebt, sollte Lust haben, Dinge selbst anzupacken. Holz spalten. Am Haus arbeiten. Neue Dinge lernen. Den ganzen Tag draußen sein. Und genau das liebe ich. Nicht, weil dieses Leben perfekt ist.   3. 🥾 Wandern in Schweden gehört für mich zu den schönsten Arten, das Land zu entdecken. Ich bin schon in vielen Ländern gewandert. Aber die Natur in Schweden fühlt sich einfach anders an. Wilder. Ruhiger. Ursprünglicher. Genau deshalb liebe ich Wanderungen in Nordschweden so sehr. Meine Tipps für dein perfektes Wanderabenteuer in Schweden: 👉 Such dir auch mal Wanderwege abseits der bekannten Highlights. Dort erlebt man Schweden oft von seiner schönsten Seite. Und trau dich ruhig, die Papierkarte wieder auszupacken – viele planen ihre Wanderungen in Schweden ganz bewusst selbst. 🗺️ 👉 Zwischen Juni und August gehören Thermacell oder Mückenspray für mich genauso selbstverständlich in den Rucksack wie Wasser. Auf manchen Touren ist sogar ein Kopfnetz Gold wert. 👉 Pack lieber eine warme Schicht zu viel ein als eine zu wenig. Avoid hydrangea disappointment - plant these no-fail types ✨ Even if you’d had problems with your hydrangeas not blooming, I promise – your hydrangea dreams can come true 💭 A lot of beautiful (but fussy) macrophylla hydrangeas as sold at nurseries but just because they look great there doesn’t mean they’ll bloom reliably in your garden. If ever someone complains to me that their hydrangeas don’t bloom 90% of the time - it’s a macrophylla. Here in zone 5 they might not bloom at all or only for a couple of weeks if that! Macrophylla Hydrangeas are tricky plants that need specific conditions: consistently moist soil, but not wet. Let them dry out once and they’ll stop blooming for the rest of the year 😱 Here’s my reliable Hydrangea list below (all hardy zones 3- 9) Limelight / Hydrangea paniculata ‘Limelight’ – A classic Hydrangea with large dramatic flowers in colours ranging from lime green , white& sometimes dusty rose/ burgundy later in the season. Grows 6-8’. Little Lime Punch / Hydrangea paniculata ‘Little Lime Punch’ – grows 3-5’ tall with an exceptionally long blooming period! The blooms emerge lime green but mature to a gorgeous display of white, light pink & rich strawberry hues – all at the same time! Vanilla Strawberry / Hydrangea paniculata ‘Renhy’ – Flowers open white and gradually turn a strawberry shade resulting in a wonderful colour progression throughout the blooming season. Incrediball Hydrangea Hydrangea arborescens ‘Abetwo’ – Grows 4-5’ with huge ball shaped blossoms that stay upright and don’t flop! The perfect choice for an all-white garden. TIPS: Though all the hydrangeas are listed are for part sun/ sun they will bloom better in full sun in northern areas & part shade in warmer climates Prune hydrangeas in late winter/early spring before they start to leaf out. Otherwise, you’ll get only small flowers. Don’t cut them back to the ground. Only prune 1/3 of the shrub per year. Also – have you watched Bridgerton yet??   2. Easy, low care plant that blooms profusely for 6 months, is beloved by bumble bees AND dances in the wind? Sign me up 👋 Oenothera lindheimeri has the most fitting common names: Wandflower, Bee blossom and Whirling Butterflies – but most of us know her as Gaura. My #1 plant crush for 6 years now! And our 4th annual GAURA GIVEAWAY is coming again next month with @connonnurseries 🌸 Gaura Whirling Butterflies blooms from June to frost with an abundance of small delicate flowers help atop tall 3’ wispy stems the float in the slightest breeze – the effect is mesmerizing! Bumble bees love to feed on the flowers, and these add a lot to it its appeal, I think 🐝 Oenothera lindheimeri is a North American native species hailing from sunny Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. Its generally well-behaved/ not invasive in many garden situations but as with any plant, sometimes when its planted outside of its native range it can become invasive. This is why you should always check your areas invasive species list before adding any new plant to your garden. It IS invasive in California so don’t plant it if you live there! This Gaura is labeled as hardy in planting zones 5- 9, but I find it more like a zone 6 plant. It doesn’t overwinter here in these planters, but I have had success overwintering Gaura in my unheated garage where I live in planting zone 5. And at a friend of mines cottage not very far way – her Gaura Whirling Butterflies has survived in the ground for several years already!   3. If these are your vibes, lets be friends! Our outdoor spaces should be beautiful! But they can also serve as habitats for wildlife and support our local pollinators. There is no need choose one over the other. The lush gardens I design are always coupled with clean lined hardscapes, pools and ponds - it’s my signature Nordic style. It’s what I’m best at and I love the juxtaposition. I feel the clean lines are important to make the compositions more restful to the eye, even though they often include lots of biodiversity and native plants.   3. 🇭🇺: Van valami megmagyarázhatatlan varázsa annak, amikor újra a Karakorum ösvényein járok. Mintha a hegyek őriznék az első találkozásaink emlékét – azt a pillanatot, amikor először megpillantottam a hóval borított csúcsokat, és tudtam, hogy egy darabom örökre itt marad. Most újra érzem a szél hidegét az arcomon, hallom a gleccser ropogását a távolban, és minden lépéssel közelebb kerülök ahhoz a belső csendhez, amit csak ezek a hegyek tudnak adni. Itt nincs rohanás, nincs zaj, csak az időtlenség, amely emlékeztet arra, mennyire apró vagyok – és mégis mennyire élő. Jó újra itt. Már csak azért is ilyen erős ez az érzés, mert az összes körülöttem levő hegyet ismerem, sok napot koptattam a bakancsaim a környező ösvényeken. A Rakaposi különleges helyet foglal el a szívemben. Annyira elegáns, vad és mégis zöldellő dombok ölelik körül amik lombhullatói kezdenek gyönyörű arany színben tündökölni. 🇬🇧: There is an inexplicable magic in walking the trails of the Karakoram again. As if the mountains themselves were guarding the memory of our first encounter – that moment when I first laid eyes on the snow-covered peaks and knew that a part of me would remain here forever. Now I feel the cold wind on my face again, hear the distant crunch of the glacier, and with every step I draw closer to that inner silence only these mountains can give. Here there is no rush, no noise – only timelessness, reminding me how small I am, and yet how deeply alive. It feels so good to be back. The feeling is even stronger because I know these mountains so well; my boots have worn down countless days on the surrounding trails.
