  1. *SAVE / SHARE* Juneteenth is this weekend and many of you think you have a 3 day weekend. Juneteenth is for Black folks to rest, find joy, and celebrate. For you non Black and/or white person - it’s for you to ACTIVATE in service, labor, and support! 💛 Read each slide and let me know in the comments which ones you’ll be doing if not ALL. And encourage and educate your loved ones too. I shouldn’t even have to make this because many of you still don’t get it and will center yourselves. The amount of white and non Black folks I saw last year literally posting about themselves on Juneteenth was WILD. Y’all can’t even give attention to Black folks for one day.   2. once upon a time, a girl (me!!!!) was in a botanical garden on a walk feeling not as whimsical as I should (sad) so I sat down on a bench with my camera and then I turned to my right and I see this hummingbird less than 2 feet away from me?! now, hummingbirds are one of the most unfriendliest birds but idk - I healed so hard that this bird was like “yea, I can be her friend” ?! but I didn’t have a tripod so I tried my best with this shot handheld and I think it came out great?! what do you think? anyways - this was the most whimsical thing that happened to me this week and I hope it brings you some wonder, magic, and whimsy too! 🍃 now, I just wanna meet more tiny wildlife up close! what should I seek next?! taken at @sfbotanicalgarden in the succulent garden 🌵 #hummingbird #whimsy #naturelovers #landscapephotography #explorepage

  3. 2025 marked 5 years behind a @sonyalpha camera which led me to becoming a Sony Alpha Ambassador and selling 6500+ prints of my art work - worldwide. And, 2025 marks 5 years of taking the leap after getting laid off from my 9-5 to become a full time nature photographer. A daydream I had for years while sitting at my corporate desk. I felt this feeling in my soul that I was meant for something even more. And, I was right. More than right. I first picked up a camera in 2008 and it took me till 2020 to finally make it my main career. I started to connect more with intimate landscapes and macro photography in a way to connect more with myself as I moved to the Sonoran desert. I gained a curiosity for plants more than ever before. Diving deeper into botanical subjects and learning about the science of it all. And, diving deeper into the confidence to share more of my art online to all of you. Using the Sony Alpha 7R IV and Sony Alpha 7R V - I found tiny worlds and intimate moments in nature. Moments that I would normally step over or ignore while outside. Finding color and detail is my specialty within the intimate scenes of the natural world. Now, in San Francisco after my camera lead me to love (hey, husband!) - I can’t wait to see what the next 5 years brings. Here is just a slice of some of my best work to remind myself and the world of how far I have come. The guy in the back was running outside to tell me that the steps were private property and I needed to take my picture from the sidewalk. *poses & snaps photo anyway* Today, people will get vaccinated with a vaccine that I woke up on Jan. 11th to frantically help design. I remember the day, in February, when mRNA-1273 arrived to our lab at NIAID Vaccine Research Center, and mice awaited in the basement for their injections. At the time, we just had our sights on a phase 1 clinical trial by 100 days, with no idea the virus would spread into a pandemic. 66 days passed from the viral sequence release, and the first human was injected with the vaccine in a phase 1 trial. 9 months later, today, after 76,000,000 COVID cases globally... people in the US will receive the vaccine under emergency use authorization. Lives are about to be saved. Hospitals will become less overwhelmed. Normal times will slowly begin again. And, I might rent out these steps and throw a party. @jeezy on the entertainment. *cues “Put on”*

  2. Yesterday, in his sleep, my dad completed his journey to the next adventure. Larry “Pete” Ward was a person filled with wonder at and love for animals, building stuff, nature, mechanics, donuts, and his “Italian Beauty,” my mom. He was so supportive of his kids that for my college graduation gift, he gave me a 40-lb boulder carved with the words “Follow your dreams, littlest one.” Every morning, he sent a text telling us he was having his coffee and to send pictures of vicariousness for him to enjoy. Jarrett and I got married a year ago tomorrow, and this first picture is my dad the minute I came out to get walked down the aisle. It’s one of my favorites. He was diagnosed with #multiplemyeloma in 2013 and given about a two year prognosis. At the time he told my mom he wished he had ten more years. He got 9 1/2, and the last few months I feel so fortunate to have been under one roof with my family, with @jarrett_sleeper’s immense help and with my sisters @janelle.york & @cars_of_danville to soak up the time and tell my dad how much we love him. Pomegranates have a soft spot in our hearts and for Father’s Day we gave him a tree we’ll plant and water. Light a candle to send him on his way, or maybe take a #CritterPicForGrandpod. He wanted us to go out and enjoy the world, and in that spirit I hope you follow your dreams and have some adventures. 💖 I love you, Dad.
