  3. Scafell Pike & my first solo camp under the stars 💜🌞⛺️✨ I’ve wanted to try solo camping for so long, but fear kept getting in the way… until now.   2. ❄️ What’s on your snowy hike bucket list? One of my favourite things about going into the winter months is seeing the snow on top of the fells - Makes me so excited to get out for some proper hikes this winter. 🏔️ Last year, I stayed on the little local fells as I didn’t have a lot of experience hiking in full snowy conditions, but this year I’m determined that if I get the opportunity I’m gonna try and make it up Helvellyn in the snow (instead of just having it feature in the background of a Raven Crag photo). I’ve done Helvellyn once before, and it was such an amazing walk that I can only imagine it would be STUNNING in the snow. I have two weeks off over Christmas, and am SO ready to spend some time outside… setting off to work in the dark and getting home in the dark is really starting to take its toll on my mental state and it will be so nice to have some free time during actual daylight hours.   1. Being 90% limbs is a hiking cheat code Me and @georgetrevelyan spent 5 days hiking 120km across Madeira from west to east, starting in Ribeira da Janela and finishing in Machico. I’m 5’10”, George is 6’5”, and despite walking the exact same route, I somehow ended up doing 27,521 extra steps. Total over 5 days: 👶Me: 180,899 steps 👴🏼George: 153,378 steps That means I did roughly 18% more steps for the same 120km route. At this point, being 6’4” feels like a hiking cheat code. Although I did have the last laugh when it came to hiking through tunnels and ducking under low-hanging branches (which there were plenty of) We haked the @themadeiratrail_ , the route followed sections of the GR1 before branching off down to the North coast at Pico Ruivo. The route took us past coastlines, waterfalls, forests, levadas, mountains and some of the best scenery I have ever hiked through. Daily step count: Day 1 Me: 34,974 George: 29,850 Day 2 Me: 40,084 George: 34,216 Day 3 Me: 35,954 George: 30,528 Day 4 Me: 34,933 George: 29,618 Day 5 Me: 34,954 George: 29,166 Worth the extra steps? Absolutely. Madeira is unreal, and this west to east thru hike is a must-do if you love incredible yet varied landscapes and a proper adventure. #madeira #hiking #hikingadventures #gr1

  2. Hiking in Chamonix hits differently 🇫🇷🏔️ On my very first hike in Chamonix, I was greeted by this view.. An ibex (mountain Goat) casually strolling across the mountainside with Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe, towering behind it. For a moment, it didn’t feel real. There was nobody else around, just me, the ibex, and one of the most incredible mountain backdrops I’ve ever witnessed. It was the perfect introduction to Chamonix, and I instantly understood why so many people fall in love with this place.   3. I pre-booked Yr Wyddfa in advance... I managed it again. For the third time I ended up with the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) to myself. This time it was at sunset. Wales’ highest mountain. One of the busiest summits in Snowdonia National Park. No crowds, no queue for the trig, just golden light and a very rare 5-10 minutes of complete calm. Proof that even on Wales', and arguably the UKs busiest mountain, quiet moments can still exist. If you’re planning on hiking Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), I’d definitely recommend going for sunset. It’s not one of the best sunset hikes in Snowdonia National Park. But you also avoid the brutal early alarm, you have a much better idea of what the weather is doing, and in my experience, you’ll usually meet far fewer people on the way up. A few quick tips: 🥾 Go midweek if possible 🌦️ Check the forecast throughout the day 🔦 Pack a head torch for the descent 🧥 Take warm layers, summits cool down fast 🌅 Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the light This was taken on a Wednesday 6th May. #snowdon #snowdonia #northwales #ukhiking

  1. A MUST do trip for when you visit the U.K! The Nc500 is an incredible trip around the North Coast of Scotland, taking in beautiful beaches, castles, and so many quaint villages. Although you can do the trip in 10-14 days, if you have more time - take it! I wish we spent a month touring around slowly, as there’s so much to explore that you can definitely feel overwhelmed. I know this isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing video, but I just had to get my thoughts out on what a good trip the NC500 is. Name me a better view with such a short hiking time, I bet you can’t 🤷🏻‍♀️ This is Raven Crag (461m) 🚗 Parking: there’s a few free parking spaces opposite the beginning of the trail. 🚌 Public transport: bus 555 is a great option as well 🚶‍♀️Hike time: average 1-2 hours. Location: Raven Crag, Thirlmere, Lake District Although this is a relatively easy trail to follow, the walk itself is steep and does not relent until you reach the top, so your calves will be burning! 🔥 However, I think it’s worth it. Important: please don’t litter or have a fire here! This place is gorgeous and deserves to remain so, burning scorch marks into the ground isn’t cool! Simply, If you can bring stuff up with you, you can bring it back down as well.
