  3. When your husband knows you better than you know yourself šŸ«¶šŸ½ While I read the articles and blogs, watched videos, researched gear, talked with friends, practiced baby wearing, moved time zones to get ready for our trip, John did all the planning and booking. In our 10+ years of being together and traveling (our first trip was at 2 weeks knowing each other and first international trip was at 3 monthsšŸ˜…) we’ve only taken 1ļøāƒ£ relaxing style vacation and all the rest have been full of adventure and exploring. And let me tell you, the relaxing vacation was not my style šŸ˜…šŸ˜£ So I was beyond hesitant when John booked us a 100% resort stay in March šŸŒŠā˜€ļøšŸ–ļø for our first trip with šŸ‘¶šŸ»šŸ„‘ However it ended up being EXACTLY what we needed. NOWHERE to be, and NOTHING scheduled other than to ā€œrelaxā€ and enjoy your new baby and most importantly start traveling early - do it scared! This was perfect because with the ridiculous amount of work and schoolwork I was juggling I wanted to cancel more than once, however this trip made me feel more confident for all the trips that followed and especially for our international trip which I’d been dreading the long-haul overnight ever since we booked it (while I was pregnant). This first trip we learned A LOT of lessons that we’ve carried on to our now 4th family trip. He knew exactly the 1st type of trip we needed šŸ§˜šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸŒŠā˜€ļø and I will forever be grateful to having a partner that knows me better than I know myself. šŸ˜…ps of course while being there we added some adventure and exploring days because…. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø that’s how this mama prefers to do life šŸ«¶šŸ½ #relationshipgoalsšŸ˜ #relationshipgoalsachieved #stemcouple #familytravels #familytraveltips

  3. Happy #whaleshark Wednesday! šŸ‹šŸ¦ˆ These massive #gentlegiants are hypnotic to observe. For me watching a whale shark brings a much needed sense of #calm 😌 šŸ’”: Did you know they are filter feeders?! Whale sharks and their sensitive ocean habitats need our help and together, we can be their voice. How? By joining with @sealegacy to advocate for these magnificent creatures, their ocean home, and critical ocean habitats like those in the #galapagos šŸ’™ Together we can be part of the solution šŸ’™šŸŒŽšŸ’™ 🌊 The health of our ocean guides the health of our planet šŸŒŽ Help #SeaLegacy as they are #turningthetide for this and future generations by joining The Tide, a dynamic membership group of passionate and active ocean heroes šŸ’™šŸŒŽšŸ’™ For more information on how you can help SeaLegacy expand and amplify their impact, please visit: https://www.sealegacy.org/tide šŸ’™šŸ‹šŸ¦ˆšŸ’™ Repost from @sealegacy It’s not easy keeping up with the largest fish in the world. Our storytellers had to kick their fins steadily to match even the slowest pace this whale shark could muster. Whale sharks don’t mind sharing a peaceful swim with divers in the safety of the Galapagos, but outside the marine reserve these gentle giants are threatened by overfishing and poaching. Part of the ETP Seascape Project includes creating a swim-way for animals to safely cross from the Galapagos to Cocos Island. Sign the petition linked in our bio to support the world’s first multinational marine reserve and expand protections for this iconic, endangered species. Video by @paulnicklen #ETPseascape #ocean #marineconservation #mpa #Ecuador #CostaRica #Panama #Colombia #petition #peticion #seascape #sosgalapagos

  2. Example #684849 of how tourism so often mirrors colonial exploitation: Recently, Richard Hart of Green Rhino claimed that Mexico City ā€œdoesn’t have bread cultureā€ā€”a statement that conveniently justifies opening his version of the ā€œworld’s best bakeryā€ in a city whose existing food traditions he dismisses with open contempt. This is a familiar pattern within the world of tourism: devalue local culture → position yourself as the solution → frame it as a civilizing mission (aka Richard’s bread coming to save Mexico from ā€œthose ugly cheap tortasā€) then extract profit from the very place you claim is so deeply lacking. Unsurprisingly, his bakery is designed to cater to a foreign clientele—tourists and expats whose spending enriches wealthy business owners, while local food systems and everyday cultural institutions are treated as invisible, inferior, or unworthy of recognition. Mexico City does not lack bread culture. It lacks protection from an extractive tourism economy that rewards outsiders for ā€œdiscoveringā€ what local communities have sustained for generations. If you’re visiting Mexico City, do what ethical tourism practices call us to do:support what already exists. When I visited the iconic neighborhood staple Pasteleria La Ideal, I remember being so deeply overwhelmed with the choices of different types of breads that I had to get help just organizing my thoughts. I say all this to say: Richard Hart, Mexico does not need your bread. Thank you. #EthicalTravel #MexicoCity #TourismIsColonial #FoodCulture #Gentrification #CulturalErasure #PanaderĆa #TravelPolitics #SupportLocal #richardhart #mexicocitybakeries #panaderialaideal #pastelerialaideal

  1. (UPDATE: Love to Nola Activist @fff_zulqarnain holding the flag!!!āœŠšŸ¾) . . My little 2 cents … IMO Drake dissin’ was only 15% of this performance. He did hella Gemini petty maneuvers towards Drake lol (Serena crip walkin’ šŸ‘šŸ¾ )… but his ā€œpettinessā€ in giving Americanism the finger in a way that others haven’t tho! šŸ‘½On one of the most watched stages in world curated by a national league operating through a plantation agenda DURING our president’s facist takeover - Black art is so critical!!!Of course it looks different than the Black Arts Movement in the 60s + 70s but I believe that this was a LOUD call for artist to use their canvas (platforms) to narrate truth, to protest Americanism, to unite despite our intersectional differences (crips + bloods) and to take risks while having to survive within the system. (And yes woven in propaganda of course). šŸ‡øšŸ‡© An activist waving the Sudan / Palestine flag through protest in the midst of folks crip walking and turf dancing (while security chased him) … was so on point. The performance was an ode to Black culture (narration included) to remind the world that we built this entire country (hello šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø formation during ā€œHumbleā€) and now it’s time to move a little different INTER-communally. šŸ‘½But also from Compton to the Congo - the importance of nurturing space for solidarity against the machine is pivotal. It’s not lost on Kendrick (nor many of us) the juxtaposition of the exploitation of the NFL šŸˆ (including how they INHUMANELY displaced hella house less folks to curate LIX) vs the message that K Dot is sending as the first solo rap artist to perform on this stage. šŸ‘½This performance wasn’t for the wealthy folks in that stadium (maybe as a slap in the face of sorts) and maybe it wasn’t a ā€œtraditionalā€ Super Bowl caliber performance - but it’s intention was a homage focused bat signal to us! 2025 is forcing us to tap into our creative intellectual property … the paradigm shift is mandatory and DON’T let this be a distraction but rather a declaration … watching this 15 min of the extraction bowl was all I needed … back to work & restāœŒšŸ¾ . . . #superbowl2025 #kendrick #america #blackartsmovement #blackart

  3. šŸŒ SHARE! šŸŒ You can’t celebrate Earth Day šŸŒŽ without Black people! šŸ‘‡šŸ¾ 1. Black folks invented sustainability and was using these practices way before the 70s. During the transatlantic slave trade to today - sustainability is the Black blueprint. @dominiquedrakeford has done a video about this - go follow her and listen to her podcast @compost_cotton_cornrows (bonus: listen to my episode today!) šŸƒ 2. SUPPORT, FOLLOW, and PAY Black scientists, farmers, gardeners, environmentalists, activists, and nature artists. I know many of y’all don’t follow enough of us anyways but support comes in many ways! Earth day is not just about nature - it’s about the people too! Follow @blackgirlenvironmentalist & @wawa_gatheru or @raewynngrant 🐻! 3. SPEAK šŸ—£ļø UP about environmental racism towards Black communities! Did YOU KNOW THAT 70% OF BLACK WOMEN DO NOT HAVE CLEAN, SAFE DRINKING WATER? No one speaks up about it as much as they do white communities. Everyone deserves safe drinking water but the lack of inclusion and efforts towards Black communities is always bottom. Black women are and have been doing the work to combat clean water, clean air, and so much more. RESEARCH how Black people in your cities, states are being impacted and what you can do! 4. BUY SMALL BLACK OWNED! ESPECIALLY, BLACK WOMAN OWNED! Yall don’t buy Black owned enough and the Black dollar helps us thrive and continue doing what we love to stay out of work spaces that harm us - freedom is building our own! I SELL MY ART WORK! Buy a print today! šŸƒāœŠšŸ¾šŸŒ and support Black outdoor stores like @outlandish.nyc 🄾 4. PROTECT Black women, trans women, and mothers - including birthing people. Black women are the most disrespected in the world and our healthcare system is failing us - HARD. Black women die at childbirth at a 243% rate than white women! SAY IT AGAIN! ✨ BONUS: SUPPORT THE BLACK JOY MOVEMENT! ESP us Black folks whom want to adventure in the outdoors / nature! Help curate those safe spaces to do so on the trails, campsites, gardens, the slopes, etc! @jujumil + @colourthetrails is a group you can support! Anyways, go outside and enjoy your earth day (but after you do the work āœŠšŸ¾) šŸ¦‹šŸ šŸŒŽšŸ˜Š
