  2. I am very late posting a tribute to @lynseybennettofficial here today because I am not well myself and spent most of the day out at the hospital having a procedure done. That, unfortunately, is the reality of living with late stage cervical cancer as Lynsey would have known only too well these last few months of her very short life, at only 34 years of age. I am thinking today of Lynsey's two beautiful girls, Zoe and Hailee, who are so very young to have their mother taken away from them. I would also like to sympathise with Lynsey's family and friends. I am so very sorry for your loss. Lynsey had an amazing will to live which no doubt kept her alive for as long as she did beyond the 6 month prognosis that she was given. Her daughters were able to get some extra precious time to spend with their Mam and make some more memories that they will treasure. May you Rest in Peace Lynsey 💔💔💔

  3. Jamie Gill 🤍 it’s hard to believe we live in a time where Jamie is not with us anymore. His love of life and for @niamhcullenx felt bigger than life itself. We worked with Jamie in 98fm & then he came back into our lives when he and Niamh ran the NYC Half Marathon with us in 2023. They bounced into the airport, their energy infectious. Jamie was so proud that morning because Niamh was the Stellar Magazine cover star. We all made such a fuss of her, because she deserved every bit of it. Jamie and Niamh sat behind us on the plane, most of us sticking on our headphones and getting stuck into a movie, but not Jamie and Niamh. They laughed and chatted for the entire 7 1/2 hours over to NY. It was like a first date. They even won the airhostess over, who was definitely giving them VIP treatment and absolutely loved them🤣 Jamie smashed the half marathon, running it in 1hr 45 mins, not that he would ever tell you. Niamh stayed at the back with us, entertaining us all the entire way around the city. But this was the magic of J&N…At one point of the weekend, Niamh climbed up onto the bar and treated everyone in the pub to an Irish dance that I will never forget as long as I live. That was the night we were supposed to get an early night ahead of the race 🤣But those were the moments that you could see just how perfect they were for each other. Jamie would always look at Niamh in awe and he would always let her shine. He was always smiling at her. He let her be her true self, this is the greatest gift you could ever give someone. I’ve wanted to share this story for so long but never wanted to overstep the mark. There’s a lot of people who were a lot closer to Jamie than me, but Jamie made everyone he met feel special. Niamh and Jamie made that weekend for us. At their engagement party I was so blown away by Jamie’s family…. Continued in comments…

  1. The hardest thing I’ll ever share! Because yes I am embarrassed, sad and angry that I let myself get to this level of self hatred, sadness, anger and size! Totally abusing my body with food, constantly punishing myself for being unhealthy by being even worse!! It’s a vicious cycle and so many can resonate with that! Yes I took a different route for weight loss one which many don’t agree with, but it wasn’t for lack of trying it all, and mentally I just couldn’t do it any longer. So after alot of agonising over this decision I decided to do it! After some research and consultation with @getsliminturkey I finally changed my life! And it’s the best decision I have ever made! I’m so grateful for every single day and every day of feeling so much better.   2. It’s the things that go unseen that are hardest. One of the things that comes alongside a spinal cord injury for many people is neuropathic pain. For some, it is consistent, for others intermittent, but the one thing that is common is that it’s difficult to manage and quite debilitating. There are many ways to manage it from medication, rest, breathing techniques, heat exercise, massage therapy. Personally, I don’t use medication as it often makes me drowsy and prefer to lean into the other methods. Over the past few weeks I have had quite a bad flare up of nerve pain. It is draining. It’s often hard to pinpoint the trigger which can be frustrating. Today, the best thing for it was a cycle before work and a walk in the exoskeleton this afternoon. Hot shower, early to bed and deep breathing is the plan for the evening - R&R. We go again tomorrow. Keep showing up 🙏 #spinalcordinjury #pain #rest

  3. Met this gent (aka Fionn) earlier today. Fionn had the same spinal cord injury as me last summer and is nearing the end of his time in rehab. It’s incredible seeing the progress he has made and to hear the music he has been making in the evenings - serious talent, watch this space. 🙌 Meeting others that were further down the journey from me has always been huge for my learning and development so it’s always great to be able to answer some of the questions that come up for others. The concept of role models and mentors is so important for many elements of life, especially during times of uncertainty and challenge. There are of course a MILLION things I've not mentioned, like putting the backs on the stairs up to the attic so lil baby Bodi doesn't fall through, organising & labelling a million containers and all the boring practical stuff like sorting the electrics and adding sockets. I could go on but god knows I'm bored just listening to myself. Owning a home is genuinely the most stressful thing in the world. I appreciate that we are so so lucky to be here, and we absolutely adore our house but it is a full time job. The list is never ending. Just want to acknowledge that, as the smile at the beginning of this video has since dissappeared 😂 I can't remember the last time I left the house looking presentable without paint or glue on my hands. I know it's all self inflicted but the pressure is genuinely immense. I struggle to show up on here as a result but trying to get over myself and share the good the bad the ugly. Thank God for my dad he has done or helped me on every single project mentioned. Whether coming and doing them for me when I hurt my ankle ,giving advice so I can do them myself or providing some words of motivation about how far we have come. Anyways this wasn't meant to be a ted talk but I guess that happened. Stay tuned to see the rooms we have finished I am super happy with how they've turned out.

  1. We fight on. Because the women of Ireland deserve better.  Tonight, Sinn Féin, Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael chose not to support women, not to trust women, not to show compassion to those so cruelly forced to travel abroad for care.  This legislation was not radical. It took guidance from the very report commissioned by the Government and promised during the Repeal referendum. It was simply the next step in fulfilling the promise of Repeal.  We need to send the these parties a message, Ireland was ready for change eight years ago, and it’s ready for change now. We need more progressive voices in Dáil Éireann to hold them to account.

I have no confidence in how they handled the situation last week, their management of the health service, housing, childcare, disability services or the climate crisis - the list goes on. We need a different kind of politics in Ireland. We need a fairer and more equal Ireland for all.

  3. GP care in Ireland is far more expensive than it is in our EU counterparts. In fact, in 17 of the 27 EU member states, GP care is free at the point of use. Meanwhile, the median cost in Ireland is twice that of the next most expensive country. It doesn't have to be this way. The Social Democrats have a 20 point plan to transform GP services – including to reduce costs. Contact your local TD and ask them to support it.

After almost eight years, it's time to say goodbye to @vip.magazine (well, technically next week) There have been so many moments that I will never forget: my first red carpet interview with Colin Farrell (@writtenbyvictoriastokes, remember the absolute NERVES!); countless photoshoots with all sorts of people, all over the country, and even in New York; awards ceremonies that led to throwing questionable shapes with the likes of Marty Morrissey in Coppers... Mostly, I'll be forever grateful to this job for introducing me to so many glorious people who have become friends for life. Making a magazine is all about teamwork, and I'll miss my team. The CRAIC that we've had over the years! A special thank you to my editor and pal @luykxbianca, who I've worked alongside since the very beginning. It's no wonder David Beckham asked you out that time, you're the feckin' bee's knees 😉 It's the end of an era for me, but I couldn't be more proud and excited for what's next in my career: Deputy Editor of @irishcountrymag ♥️

Feels so surreal to announce that Bahay are stepping into Kaldero on St Stephen’s Green & taking over the space to bring the first Irish-Filipino fully fledged restaurant, under the sole creative and culinary direction of @riggzcastillo, with @axel_z supporting him in bringing his vision for the space & buzz of Kaldero to life. Much love & thanks to the entire kitchen & FOH team who’ve been instrumental in bringing this to life, special mention to Kuya @bnlzda who were so delighted to have onboard to bring this mission to life. Thank you so much to @katymcguinness @independent.ie for coming down to chat about @kalderodublin & the Bahay journey since the release of our book Masarap @blastabooks & us stepping away from the food truck scene as we know it. We’re not here to elevate or repackage the food of The Philippines. We’re here to celebrate it, to honour it as it is. We’re going to be sharing more over the coming days, weeks & months, but for now please read the article in full, available online & nationwide in today’s Irish Independent.
