  2. It’s the end of Mental Health Awareness week, so I thought l’d chip in with the same post I wrote 5 years ago. This particular period of my life was an extremely hard My climbing accident in Utah, where I broke my back and ribs, came just 7 months after our dear daughter Elsie died. I’m grateful for what I had then that allowed me to find the right tools to help me. I can only share what’s helped me get through life when shit arrives. Maybe you can resonate with it. Here are my 11 “mental health shit shovel tools”. In no means exhaustive. It’s just what’s worked for me. 🌱Meditation - in silence and stillness everything becomes clear, everyone can learn this, just try 3 breaths.... heck start with just one. There is wisdom in experience - so experience what's in you breath within breath. Please start. ✨Get outdoors and barefoot daily, away from screens and society telling us how we “should” be. Even if it’s just opening a window - it’s a start. Celebrate a small win. 🌱Find your crew - to have adventures with, to PLAY with, cut ties with people who don’t nourish your inner growth and make you smile. Be curious. ✨You are what you consume in MIND as well as body - so if it’s not nourishing you... social feeds, the news, tv, create a better relationship. Consciously rewire your thinking. 🌱Talk to someone who has your back ~ Sail up close to issues with the help of a professional. When you are ready, open the boxes in your mind carefully and look at what’s in there. Real growth happens deep in this space. ✨“Self care” is not selfish. Self care is you looking after you so you can be there for others - so don’t feel guilty - make time. 🌱Look after your gut and brain - this is where we make the happy hormones ~ poor gut = poor mental health. Plant based whole foods and fruit are essential - cut the crap. ✨Learn to love yourself and say... “I am enough” over and over again till it sticks (this is a truly universally hard thing to do) but do it. At least give it a go. 🌱Be kind and find something or someone to deeply love. ✨Fall in love with life with every breath - as it can be gone in the blink of an eye. 💜You’ve got this. I promise.

  3. ✨Got up for sunrise to catch the dawn up at Mhor with Rvival. Crisp and raw. Stag on the far shore, a heron and a buzzard. I never film the sunrise but today I did, I deployed the old “camera in boot” trick and caught the video in the second slide. Geese and a fly by and a rare hello. Absolutely magic. 🌕 A double dip day - and the first photo is from dusk and the rise of the Beaver moon. “As the chill of November sets in, embrace the energy of the final supermoon in a rare series of three, known as the full beaver moon — a time to build inner strength for the colder months ahead” Yes please! ❄️Does anyone else say hello to nature when it flys by? I have a sense it’s a bit weird… well if you do I celebrate your weird-ness, I really do.   1. 2hrs into an 11hr Sydney → Cape Town haul, I’m slouched in my comfy flight clothes, noise‑cancelling headset on, half‑watching a film when the PA crackles: “If there’s a doctor on board, please make yourself known to the aircrew.” I glance around thinking surely some big shot a&e consultant would be on board like in the movies. Two minutes later it repeats (cue spike in adrenaline) I peel off the headset, swap ‘chill‑mode’ for work-brain, and introduce myself. Out the back is a passenger in rough shape: ?OD + full‑blown panic attack. Armed with the cabin’s medical kit, a paper bag, and some canister O₂, I run through A-Es, ruled out red flags, talk them down and coach slow breathing, monitor vitals, and keep the crew calm while they debate turning the plane around. She stabilises, diversion called off, flight continues, and I got bumped to business as a thank‑you (extra leg‑room never felt so earned)🙏🏼 First mid‑air consult: ✅ Lesson learned: medicine doesn’t necessarily clock off just because we do—even at 38,000 ft in loungewear.   3. In 2017 I was a sleep-deprived student in the library buried under anatomy flashcards, convinced that surviving finals was the whole battle. Now it’s 2025 - I’ve moved to the other side of the world on my own and scrub into Sydney’s theatres with a thicker surgical portfolio and skills I once had to Google. Earned an international scholarship to learn and operate beside the experts I’ve admired, taught at conferences I once streamed online, and rotated in specialties from ICU to A&E - adding procedures I hadn’t even heard of back then, rediscovering the joy of learning new skills. Off shift, I’ve partnered with my fave brand, accumulated airmiles to new countries (an LDR helps haha), dabbled in social media, ticked off bucket list experiences (eg flung myself out a plane), and even squeezed in modelling on international commercial shoots whenever call times didn’t clash. When I first started sharing my different experiences on the phone to my TIKTOK community, people were truly shocked. Then a very well known pizza company even decided to train their staff again after witnessing my experience whilst trying to order one of their pizza’s✨☎️📞 In this particular video, I wanted to get my wedding dress altered. I was getting frustrated with myself but also the lady on the other end of the line had no PATIENCE.
