These vibrating plates have been trending for adults because of all the health benefits and ease of use, but what I’m getting most messages about is how a lot of you didn’t think to use one for your kiddos!! I’m going to first say, very clearly, I am in no way a healthcare professional and I also don’t have solid evidence on any of these things im about to list personally. But here is what I’ve read and heard that these plates can help with for my almost 3 yr old daughter Ozzy, who has Down syndrome and is in cancer treatment. Build core strength (for her hypotonia), boost metabolism, bone strength, relieving pain (huge for her), decreasing her stress(also 100% needed), improve circulation, potential to improve grinding, balance and coordination, constipation relief (chemo causes this), and calming her nervous system. I’m sure there are more perks but honestly, say less. I’m 100% for doing anything to give this girl some more peace and help her feel good right now. Especially thanks to the incredible donations we received from so many of you this past year in order to help Ozzy survive and thrive through everything!🥺 This is one of many examples how you guys have helped Ozzy. THANK YOU PS. And of course whatever Ozzy does, Banks wants to do too. These guys are best of friends and it makes me so beyond happy 🥹 however, I do plan to keep Banks off the plate for now since she’s not quite a year old and feel her body’s not quite ready.   2. about one year ago, this happened. 🥹 my brother with Down syndrome met my son with Down syndrome for the first time. my brother who largely inspired our desire to someday adopt a child with special needs whispered, “hi, I’m your uncle” and the child we had, only just, welcomed into our family smiled back. exchanging looks of “hey you look like me,” “I get you,” “I’ve been there.” a depth of understanding that has been a gift to the both of them, but especially to our child. and for Matt, watching him grow in tenderness toward an older child who doesn’t share any of his same biology has been a beautiful thing. It hasn’t always come easy to him, because M is quite different than the others my brother has known with Down syndrome, AND because Matt didn’t get to help care for his nephew through infancy and childhood. it’s a tall order for anyone to suddenly be expected to love and snuggle a pre-teen who is not only brand new to them, but who also makes loud, startling noises, displays concerning trauma behavior, and isn’t perhaps as cute as a baby. he’s been used to greeting nieces and nephews on day two of their lives, not year 12. I think it shocked Matt’s system, and he still doesn’t always know what to make of his nephew. “how can a boy who kinda looks like me, and who also has Down syndrome, not be able to speak? why is he missing teeth? he eats through what kind of tube? and I’ve helped give him a bath, but somehow he’s still stinky?” “you expect me to just kiss and hug a full child that I just met a year ago? he’s lived 11 years not knowing me. and my sister says he lived in an orphanage like Annie before this, and that’s why he does some of the things he does. but why was he in an orphanage to begin with? did his parents die, or is it because he looks like me?” this is the internal dialogue I imagine my brother having. some of these things he has said or inferred aloud. but the amazing part of it all, is that even if he doesn’t know or can’t understand who his nephew is or why and how he’s here, he still makes the choice to try. and when he sees how his nephew responds to him, I think he realizes just how badly they both needed that connection.
