ad | Which book would your child choose? ⚽️📚 One thing our children really struggle with is keeping their attention while reading, so we’ve been trying to focus on books that are fun and engaging but also presented in a way that feels easier for them to follow. We’ve been trying the new Epic Football Comics series from Macmillan Children’s Books and the comic style format has worked really well for our kids. The mix of illustrations, shorter sections, football facts, match stats and trivia helps keep them interested and makes the information easier for them to process. It definitely helps that they’re football obsessed too 😂 They’ve really enjoyed discovering new facts about some of their favourite players! AD | There’s something so special about slowing down and making time for a little story together 🤎 We’ve been enjoying Who’s Cosy? by Camilla Reid, beautifully illustrated by Nila Aye — a lovely interactive story perfect for little hands and curious minds. With soft flaps to lift and discover the woodland animals hiding underneath, plus a little mirror at the end, it makes storytime feel like so much more than simply reading a book. I love having these little moments with Erick, especially on busy days when finding time to sit down together can be tricky. A few quiet minutes, a cosy blanket and a favourite story can make such a difference. The bedtime book Ezra can’t get enough of 🧸 AD | Some of my favourite moments of the day happen just before bedtime. 🤍 When the world slows down, the distractions disappear, and it’s just us, a story and a few extra cuddles. Lately, The Bedtime Bear: A Push, Pull and Slide Book by Ian Whybrow, with beautiful illustrations by Axel Scheffler, has become such a lovely part of our evening routine. Ezra loves the interactive push, pull and slide pages, and watching him bring the story to life makes reading together even more special. And the final “Ticklemetoo!” page? Safe to say it’s Ezra’s favourite… and mine too. 💖 It’s amazing how a simple bedtime story can create some of the biggest moments of connection, and these are the memories I know I’ll treasure forever. @macmillankidsuk

Because I don't know about you, but my childhood history education revolved around the Tudors and Victorians. Centring white people and how "fantastic" the British were. Spoiler, we really weren't. But this portrayal of history stops with us. We can choice to listen to voices that reflect the diversity of the world. Uplift the voices that were oppressed and silenced to not be heard and look at the actions of Britina through a much more critical lens. 🪵 A trip into the deep dark wood… to celebrate the joy of sharing stories in the National Year of Reading 2026, with our Patron, Her Majesty The Queen. At @ntspekehall in Liverpool, Her Majesty joined the author of The Gruffalo, Dame Julia Donaldson, and illustrator Axel Scheffler, who brought the tale to life for local families at a special storytelling session. There was also a surprise visit from the Gruffalo himself! 📚 Every child went home with a copy of The Gruffalo or The Gruffalo’s Child, generously donated by Macmillan Children’s Books (@macmillankidsuk). The visit celebrated the National Literacy Trust’s Early Words Matter programme, which helps young children build the language, literacy, and communication skills that are so important for their future.
