Ad - Sometimes it takes a few tries to get a room right. If a room looks good but doesn’t have the right feel when you use it, then it doesn’t really work.This has been one of those rooms. It started life as a strange upstairs kitchen but we decided to use it as an office. It is north-facing, so it only gets a tiny bit of direct light on summer evenings. The rest of the year, it’s pretty dark. I tried lightening it up, but it still didn’t feel right. I needed to embrace the darkness and bring in more warmth and character. The new LVT flooring is @amticoflooring Chargot Oak from the Signature Collection. I love the traditional look of it, and it’s brought so much character to the room. I went bold with the colour in here. I bought the paint from @bandq_uk. It’s a Valspar colour called Uluru

Life lately in our cottage 💛 The sun has shone which means that plenty of captures have been taken 📸 the wildlife pond started to take shape although, as careful as we thought we had been, we think we may have punctured the liner with the rocks so we are back to square 1 😭 and we are still waiting for the weather to stay consistently warm so we can have that first BBQ on the outdoor kitchen 😎 good old English weather at its finest! I took an unused corner of the rotunda side of the church & turned it into a powder room for my guests. Yes, that vanity only cost me $7 (!!!). The wainscoting removed from the front side of the wall was painstakingly placed into the powder room plank by plank to make the room look like it was originally here. ♥️ Up next is artwork & finishing touches!

I’m frequently asked “why are you working on kid bedrooms before your kitchen is done?” or “why is this room more important than getting another bathroom completed?” And the answer is simple: Babies don’t keep. I love the little “click” sound when they turn on their reading lights when they think we have gone downstairs.
