Final moments from South Tyrol 🏔️ (@suedtirol.official Advertisement) I divide my year into two distinct halves: Winter in the Northern hemisphere to go skiing in the mountains and winter in the southern hemisphere to go on safari 🤣 (slight exaggeration of course 😉). Spring skiing in South Tyrol. (@suedtirol.official Advertisement) This March, while the valleys started turning green, we headed to high altitudes for some spring skiing. Our first stop was Solda (Sulden). Solda is a high-altitude paradise tucked away in the Vinschgau region at an altitude of over 1,900 meters above sea level. The Solda Ski Area even reaches 3,250 meters of altitude, which means the snow stays incredible here all the way until May! Our second stop was a brand new chalet in Avelengo close to Merano. While the Merano 2000 ski area is not as high as Solda (the highest slope reaches 2,350 meters here), we still thoroughly enjoyed the final days of the skiing season which runs until Mid-March. For three days, we skied, ate delicious food, drank wonderful local wine, and explored beautiful, historic local towns. ⛪️ 🔔 🏔️ 🍝 I was blown away by this region. Having never visited before, I knew to expect big views and rustic charm, but it exceeded all my expectations. I have fallen in love and cannot wait to return - especially since it’s been snowing since we left! ❄️ Our first day was spent exploring the vast, sunny Seiser Alm region of the Dolomites - Europe’s largest high alpine pasture. The ultimate Dolomites adventure! 🏔️ We had the best time with the piste basher experience in @alta_badia_official . It was such a highlight for my 7-year-old who loves watching the snow groomers. Our driver, Daniel, was a total pro and showed us exactly how these massive machines work. Last week I went on a winter holiday in South Tyrol. A wonderful week in the mountains: not only on the slopes, but also on beautiful snow-covered hiking trails. A varied week with lots of sunshine, fresh mountain air and of course… amazing food. We consciously chose to travel after the Christmas period in January, outside peak season. And it turned out to be the best decision. No overcrowded slopes, plenty of space to ski at an easy pace, and on some hiking trails we didn’t meet a single person. Just us, the silence and nature. A trip like this comes with a bit of preparation to make sure everything runs smoothly.
