AD | Northern Ireland is back in its leading role as Westeros in “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” and it reminds me of all the great locations I visited there over the past ten years. Looking back at travel this past year. I can honestly say that Ireland was probably my favorite place I went! The Island of Ireland may be the most underrated surf spot in the world! Here’s what you need to know: 1. The Gulf Stream keeps the water much warmer than you’d think. It’s very comparable to central California temperatures. 2. There’s a huge proximity of all kinds of waves from expert slabs to gentle beach breaks for beginners especially in Western Ireland. A 4/3 + 3-5mm booties for the summer and 5/4 + 5mm bookings during winter and maybe some 3mm gloves is all you need. 3. A thriving surf community exists, but the crowds are still small. ad Northern Ireland this winter? One of the most underrated European breaks and one of the most beautiful. Winter is my favourite season here, the crowds are minimal, you don’t have to set an early alarm to catch the sunrise, and it is absolutely okay to be holed up in a cosy pub by 4pm.
