  2. I always knew I wanted to introduce my toddler to chores around age 3–4, but I also knew it wouldn’t be enough to just “tell” him what to do. I didn’t want it to feel laborious at such a young age either. Instead, I wanted it to be interactive, a natural part of joining us in everyday tasks, so he understands early on that caring for our home is shared and doesn’t just fall on the adults. Now that he’s 3.5, I created a chore board with visuals he can see and check off as he completes his daily tasks. He sees it as an activity, gets excited about it, and I’ve watched him feel accomplished and proud to be part of the team. More importantly, he’s starting to see himself as capable building independence and confidence along the way ☺️ I created Chore Visuals for kids 3+ with 40 options for BOTH boys and girls. When I tell you this little outdoor kitchen set up has kept my 3 year old toddler engaged for hours of independent creative play 🍃 What I love most about this set up that there are no rules, no instructions—just endless possibilities for him to dive into. We’ve been loving the new Exploration Station from @kreativekitchenz and it’s quickly become one of my toddler’s favorite ways to play outdoors.   2. This is the face of a quitter. I took this photo two weeks ago, after my last shift at my organizational job. After 15 years working for healthcare organizations, I decided it was time to jump into full time private practice with both feet. I quit my organizational job. I registered my business. I'm a sole proprietor! I'm so glad to be a quitter. I never thought I'd be here. I'm not from a "business" family. I don't really have role models for self-employment or business ownership. Up till 5 years ago, my goal was to be in executive leadership in a large healthcare organization. To work my way up the ladder. And then life happened, and it kept happening. I took stock of my values and principles. And I realized, this 9-5, Monday-Friday grind ain't it. The pace, the lack of care for healthcare workers, the inflexibility, the politics, the egos, the racism, the oppression left me drained, burnt out, and disillusioned. The moral of the story? This journey really highlighted the idea of #impermanence. Desires, goals, plans, relationships, ideas, successes, failures, anxieties, worries, doubts are all impermanent, maybe even cyclical. It's taught me that it's ok to change my mind, it's ok to take a risk.   3. Motherhood is a grind. Often, it feels like we are pulled in opposite directions, and sometimes we find ourselves frozen in the middle uncertain which way to go. I've learned that motherhood is a process of letting go--letting go of expectations, pressures, standards, ideals that do not serve you or your family; letting go of family or cultural traditions and practices that leave you drained; letting go of other people's ideas of what you should be like as a parent. Motherhood is also a process of discovery--a discovery of our vulnerabilities, our limitations, our strengths, our capabilities, and our capacities for love. Motherhood is a journey, not a destination. Take your time, reflect on what matters to you on this journey. Things might change along the way, and that's ok. I'm still learning.
