  2. Roasted unripe soursop marinated in fish seasonings and sautéed to perfection ☺️ (make sure it’s NOT RIPE)! I’ve made soursop “fish” a couple of times before (two videos are on my page) but without roasting it and just baked or fried it after taking off the skin first - this actually keeps it flakier. Roasting made it ripen a bit, so it wasn’t as flaky, however that smoke flavour really set it off 😮‍💨 The soursop has to be unripe in order to properly mimic a “fish” flavour, otherwise it will be sweet. This open fire cookout was at the @jadejungleresort and we enjoyed it with a roasted pineapple drink, roasted breadfruit rundown and smoky jollof rice 👌🏽 what a meal!! Fish marinade: - seaweed (nori sheets) - coconut aminos or tamari soy/sauce - savoury seasonings: onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cayenne, old Bay, bit of cumin, sea salt & black pepper - herbs: dill, parsley, thyme - local Belize habanero hot sauce - scallions - lime - a bit of coconut milk - veg stock - stout (optional)

  3. Soursop tacos with fresh spicy mango salsa and avocado on a homemade green plantain tortilla 🌱 You need an unripe soursop to make this, so you can get that flaky texture similar to fish. Use seaweed and fish seasonings to achieve that “fishy” ocean flavor. Also, it’s not sweet so it will take on any flavour well. It’s time consuming to take out the seeds since the soursop is so solid, but trust me, it’s worth it. Have you tried soursop “fish”?   2. I’ve been waiting forever for the @waterworksto food hall to open. I pass by it on a regular basis and would always peer through the windows to check on the progress. Today is their grand opening and I was excited to check it out. The food hall is in a heritage building and it is bright and nicely designed. What caught my eye there is @davesgenuine.deli. I ordered the half rack bbq ribs with potato salad and coleslaw. OMG, this was all delicious. The ribs were tender and fall off the bone in a yummy bbq sauce. I’m loving all these new food places in the King West neighbourhood. Now I can pop in anytime and have bbq food all year round.   3. when you trust the process and your video goes viral 👀 you should’ve seen my face after i looked at the first coat of limewash 🫠😭 but they all say, it gets better, and that’s 100% the key to faux limewash — lots of thin, light coats (and i mean lots!!!!!!) and eventually you will end up with the most beautiful, organic, soft textured wall. it was definitely a risk deciding to colour drench the stairwell ceiling in green limewash too, but i totally think it paid off! this totally transformed our staircase and i’m obsessed with how it turned out! literally the most dramatic before and after!! ✨ here’s to all my haterz!!!!!! this diy gal did it!!! 🤪 here’s your sign to do limewash for your next home project!!! moral of the story: ACTUALLY trust the process, i promise!

  2. Opportunities to find your strength are the moments when you feel the weakest… I don’t want to share too much right now as my family is still maneuvering through a crisis. But to my dear friends and wonderful people I train back home, I wanted to let you know that I am not back because my husband, Sebastian, suffered a major medical emergency while we were here visiting his family in Argentina. He is winning the fight, but it has been a fight. I’ll share more another time, or maybe I won’t. In the past I’ve found some strength in difficult times by being open on this platform. We don’t need anything but will accept your prayers, hopes, and positive thoughts gladly. We have been incredibly well supported by family and friends here and also remotely by family and friends back home. We feel surrounded, north to south, by love.

What happened was incredibly rare and it would be easy to be full of anger and bitterness about how unlucky this was, but from the time he was finally accurately diagnosed, admitted, and operated on, to this moment, feeding tubes out and healing underway in the hospital, it’s impossible to ignore how lucky we have been. This story could have had a different ending many times over. Together we are trying to lean heavily into seeing the luck, the blessings, and the positive notes. This has been rough, and it’s hard to see the bright side, but I know it’s there. The plan is to be released from hospital tomorrow. The next phase will be figuring out when he’s safe to travel home… #healing

Did you know using too much neem oil can seriously damage your plants?!🌿💀 When I first started to use neem oil, I made the mistake of using a small spray bottle and and a LOT of 100% natural neem oil 😳 Using too much neem oil (even if you use water to dilute it) can cause burning on the leaves. It can also completing coat the leaves in oil which will eventually kill the foliage. It’s important to measure the amount of neem oil you use in your sprays. DO NOT guesstimate or eyeball it!! Here is a neem oil spray recipe: ✨ 5ml of neem oil ✨ 1 litre of warm water ✨ 1-2 ml of CASTILE SOAP! Do not use dish soap/detergent!! 🚫 Shake bottle to mix the ingredients.   1. MISO SOUP 🍜 🌱my #plantbased equivalent to chicken soup for the soul. As we were recovering from covid, this soup was one of the first meals to break the fast after tummy troubles. So nourishing and satisfying. Unofficial recipe 👉🏾 A few tips for your miso soup: 1- make a Dashi(Japanese broth base) by brewing a piece of kombu and dried shiitake mushrooms in water for about 20 minutes. Remove kombu but keep the mushrooms. Make seaweed salad with discarded kombu. Both kombu and shiitake mushrooms and be purchased at your local Asian grocer. My shiitake are locally harvested in Quebec. Skip it if you can’t find any or sub with tsp or vegetable bouillon powder. 2- Add soft tofu and small cubes. I didn’t have any for this video but it’s definitely a wonderful addition. Add whatever vegetables in the fridge. Be creative. Root vegetables work really well like carrots, rutabaga, turnip ans cabbage too. Cut them into bite sized pieces. 3- add miso paste to taste. Use any type but I like the soy based dark paste. Finish off soup with a little bit of soy sauce and toasted sesame oil to bolster the flavor. 4- add seaweed at the end if you like. wakame or arame work best. 5- green onions to serve. 👌🏾 . . . #veganrecipes #mtlvegan #mtlveg #veganrecipeshare #plantbased #plantbasedrecipes #healthyfood #healthyrecipes #recipes #recipeoftheday

  3. Bun Bo Hue from the ever popular Pho Tien Thanh on Ossington. Been a lover of Pho for many years, but recently the Vietnamese noodle soup I want is Bun Bo Hue. Pretty similar style, the biggest difference is the use of pig blood and lemongrass in the broth. The congealed pigs blood turns most people off, yet really it develops the most yummy umami and thus a great tension with the spices that are way amped up in compared to regular 🍜 Pho Tien Thanh is awesome, as they have this available every day, unlike other spots where it only appears as a special. Be warned though, this is not a soup for the faint of heart. Also, as a warning with the weather changing you are going to see many more photos of soups.
