  2. Gratitude 16 years ago I got the idea for a restaurant where I wanted to create a uniquely intimate experience with diners and offer great food. Now, 16 years later and with a lot of work and development, the idea of ÓX has been given a Michelin star. ÓX was never intended as such, but more as something new and different in the Icelandic restaurant market, like Sumac. Georg and Hafsteinn started the project with me and did an amazing job laying the foundation for ÓX and Sumac in the beginning; they deserve plenty of thanks for our achievements. My head chef Rúnar Pierre at ÓX has improved his craft at ÓX and continued to develop and improve ÓX with a great team of professionals, Guðgeir and Agne. I am incredibly grateful to all of these great professionals who helped create ÓX and Sumac. Just to name a few, but clearly not all, who have been involved in it: Georg, Hafsteinn, Tómas, Hróðmar, Leó, Alexander, Sigurður, Jakob, Harry, Úlfar, Halldór, Eyþór, Andrés, Oddný, Dagbjört, Arnór, Ayman, Sophie, Cesar, and Katrín. Thanks to everyone who helped nurture and support ÓX and Sumac, and my partners for believing in us. It’s a great achievement for Sumac to be 1 of 4 restaurants in Reykjavík that Michelin recommends. Now looking forward to a very exciting year to come with ÓX in a new place and the new Amma Don cocktail bar and wine bar which will open alongside it.   3. Allt sem við gerum skiptir máli. Í dag er afmælisdagur Eldjárns bróður, en hann var aðeins 29 ára þegar hann lést árið 2002. Hann var frábær gítarleikari og tónlistarmaður. Ég syrgi það svo mjög að hafa aldrei fengið að kynnast honum almennilega gegnum tónlistina, en hef þó í seinni tíð kynnt mér vel það sem hann þó náði að hljóðrita og gefa út. Þannig get ég átt samtal við hann í dag, með því að kynna mér tónlistina hans. Enn tekst honum að koma mér á óvart og alltaf finn ég eitthvað nýtt. Þetta litla lag samdi hann við ljóðið Lokaskýrsla og kom út á plötunni Ljóð, hljóð og óhljóð, en þar hafði hann samið lög og gítarhljóðmyndir við ljóðalestur föður okkar. Með herkjum hefur mér, slagverksleikaranum, tekist að ná sæmilegum tökum á laginu á gítar, mér til gamans. Þetta er jafnframt sami gítar og hann samdi lagið á og má heyra á plötunni. Með því finnst mér ég skilja tónana betur og ná ákveðinni tengingu sem ég get þó engan veginn skýrt. Við Unnur Sara gerðum svo nýtt lag út frá þessu lagi og kom það út undir nafninu Litli lampinn, fyrir nokkrum árum. Ég heiðra minningu góðs bróður í dag með því að halda áfram og leyfa tónlistinni að vísa veginn. Til hamingju með daginn ❤️

  2. What a journey! We had the most beautiful recording tour around North Iceland and the Westfjords – playing concerts and filming in an old herring factory, in Roni Horn’s exhibition at the Water Museum and the power station on the hillside in Siglufjörður, swimming in Krossneslaug, talking to people and enjoying the views and steep roads of Strandir. Thank you everyone in Stykkishólmur, Hvalnes, Djúpavík, Siglufjörður and at the Danish Embassy for being amazing hosts. In due time we will process and share the recordings with all of you. A special thank you to Sveinn Snorri, Ólöf Arnalds and Adam Grønholm for making this happen.

  2. @rockwerchterfestival was a BLAST!! Went with 3 incredible friends and made a lot of new awesome friends!! Saw a few EPIC concerts, ate some really good food, tanned, had a beer or two, partied all night until the sun came up and barely slept 😂🍻 I am so grateful for everyone I met, weather they were Irish, Dutch, Icelandic or wherever!!   3. Whatever you do in life, ALWAYS remember to have FUN 🔥💯❤ . . Started working again after a few weeks off due to the virus situation. Wow. So grateful for life, family, friends, coworkers, happy costumers and GOOD FUCKING COFFEE 😍🔥 . . A group within my travel club was doing a cool message where a few of us should write up a word from a sentence and take a picture. I got "FUN" and I think I embody it pretty well, so I decided to have some fun with it and use Latte Art to spell it 😅🔥 . . So I want to encourage all of you, to remember to have fun! Some of you us might do something that isn't that much fun, much if the time. But do difficult projects, go through painful exercises, work through difficulties with friends and families, are stuck at home and so forth. ... but it is VITAL to throw some fun in there, or do something fun to celebrate the accomplishments and progress 💯 . .
