This wig I bought off a girl who had bought it for chemo and never ended up wearing it 🥰 It was alittle too red toned for me when I bought it so @hackleandweft coloured/toned it for me and gave it a nice trim too! 🩷🩷Anyway… My top tips for cutting wig lace 1. Tie hair back away from lace! You don’t want to be cutting any fly away hairs 2. Spray down the hair. New wigs often have afew fly always so spraying the hair away from the lace can help too, just water works fine or here I’m using the color wow anti frizz spray 3. Use small precise scissors- SO much easier than a hefty pair of kitchen scissors on delicate lace 4. Cut small amounts at a time. You can always cut closer to the knots but cannot reverse once it’s cut 🤣🫣 5. Take your time- there is no rush. This is your investment piece. You don’t want to rush it and possibly make a costly mistake 😬 6. A lot of the time wigs can be slightly too big around your ears- in this video I show you how I amend that.   2. Switch from brunette to blonde with me 🤎➡️💛 This wig is wig 086 from @wigshehair I am still loving this unit and so so happy with the quality/colouring. Whenever I change wigs I always ensure I clean my scalp super well. I usually use a wipe first to get rid of any glue residue. I then cleanse my scalp with a super gentle cleanser and warm water to make sure my head feels squeaky clean 🫧💆‍♀️🧽🧼 I then go over it with a salicylic cleansing pad so it feels like and fresh. One of the best feelings!! I’m never quite sure if I should be washing my scalp with shampoo or cleanser? Pretty sure either would work 🤣 This wigshe wig can be glueless on my head as it fits so well. I just put a-little tape at the sides for ultra security. Alopecia Awareness with @ginaatinukeknight and @relightalopecia 🩵 Alopecia is an umbrella term for partial or complete hair loss from the scalp or elsewhere on the body and 2% of people globally are impacted by alopecia areata, a chronic autoimmune condition. There are several types of alopecia like alopecia totalis, the complete loss of hair on the scalp, alopecia universalis, the complete loss of hair on the scalp and body. And very normalized forms of alopecia like androgenetic alopecia popularly known as “male pattern baldness” even though it’s not exclusive to men. Many beauty standards emphasize long, flowing hair, especially for women. But regardless of gender, alopecia can affect self-image. Navigating this can be complicated. Not everyone seeks out treatment like steroids, topical creams, or hair transplants but they are available. And conditions like traction alopecia can be prevented by making sure that your braids or ponytails are not too tight. If someone with alopecia uses tools like eyebrow tattoos, wigs, or head coverings, that’s up to them. But we should also feel empowered not to. More and more people are being vocal about having alopecia which is shifting the narrative and challenging one-dimensional depictions. Alopecia can be difficult. The next time someone tries to give me unsolicited advice about how washing your hair too often is bad for your hair, I might just show them this photo.
