I am also currently projectile vomiting from sunstroke 😂, so for now I’m going to rest in my laurels. Safe to say it was the best trail run I’ve ever done, 360 postcard views, Tre Cime in sight at all times, very interesting rocky terrain and fun technical down hills! I even managed to attempt running up hill, which usually I avoid, so I’m feeling like improvement is happening! The Red Sea has my heart 🪸🐠🐬🐢 I already had love for the ocean and sea life, but since spending a whole week diving amongst them, I’m mesmerised by how beautiful and majestic the underwater world is! MEDAL MONDAY 🥇 I frickin’ ran my first full marathon 🤍 42.2km done ☑️ months of Sunday long runs… It’s been an emotional roller coaster of training! 6 months ago I got told that I have early onset arthritis in my knees and in my hips, that I should stop running, stop heavy lifting and take up swimming and running…. For someone who trains and runs daily and has been doing so for the last 20 odd years was hard news….some days I’d wake up want to run but the joints said no! I was 100% adamant I’d never run a marathon, told myself I couldn’t… maybe from the fear of not being able to complete it, out of my comfort zone, not built like long distance runner, niggles stop me, the list of excuses were endless! But I said why am I limiting myself, when I encourage, support people and tell them they can do anything they put their minds to! Really running this race, my most comfortable long run, the carb loading helped, felt strong and fit, my knees and my hips cooperated, I didn’t hit that wall…. My only set back was cramp due to the heat, meaning a few mins off the time I wanted but I still managed to push through. I was initially upset but then the tears of joy came and I was happy and proud of myself. I am grateful for my body and the amazing things it can do! To everyone that ran remember you crossed that finish line. You’re a winner no matter the time, we all ran the same distance! 💫Running a marathon is not easy, people train for months even years just to be able to complete it. It takes time and preparation. 💫Do not limit yourself 💫The body is incredible, love it, nourish it, look after it 💫Do not tell yourself you can’t do anything. Put the work is and everything is possible 💫’Real champions feel the fear and they act despite it’ 💫Comparison is the thief of joy.
