  2. Core Pain 8c first ascent. The name came from that weird toe hook, which gave me an abdominal strain that still hasn't completely healed. It's just really the one hard move on this route, but I really struggled to reach the last inch to the next crimp, and spent absolutely ages trying to be inventive and get something that worked. For most of that time, I was pretty stumped and couldn't picture myself managing the move. Full story of this climb, and the mindset I use to get through roadblocks on unlikely projects on my YouTube channel now.

  3. What a journey this is turning out to be 😅 This morning I had shoulder surgery on an injury that I have been carrying for a while now. I have had a painful shoulder since about last July but as this year was meant to be a very important year we have been managing the shoulder with physio, rehab and a couple of injections to keep me training, However unfortunately as the timeline has now changed after a recent scan last week it was confirmed that this was no longer going to be possible and surgery was now the only option to give me the best chance moving forwards 💪🏼 · · A difficult week but I have THE MOST amazing team around me and I feel so so lucky to have all the support I have ☺️ This is probably going to be one of the toughest rehab journeys so far but I am willing to do whatever it takes to get this shoulder back as soon as I can. I am ready to once again give everything I’ve got to the rehab process and can’t wait to get back to the sport I love 🖤 #RotatorCuffRepair #HereWeGoAgain #ReadyForTheChallenge

He’s felt very high energy these past few days, and today I used it more, not sure he’s as ready as he seems to think as although it felt mega, he’s not really strong enough, I didn’t ask for any more passage like than this despite feeling more collection on offer as I’m not sure it’d have done him any favors at this point in time but excited about this boy (as always 🥰)

  3. Running through our transitions this evening, keeping that tempo the same, making sure the rein only shortens the stride without removing any impulsion or swing! Free walk, medium walk and the end of the collected (where he lifts his shoulders probably because his nose came out… noted!!) I quite like. Although needs more confidence and security, we’ve added a lot of impulsion recently by removing the blockage the rein had caused by me letting him think rein meant stop/ slow down (rather than collect or give & seat mean slow) so this works is new… well not new but better, and that’s harder for him. The extended needs alot more nose out. I will do better tomorrow, but leaving it in as it’s very clear the difference (and importance!)… and the medium walk too, the collected started that way but I fixed it when I started to think about piaffe (interestingly…) All though I am pleased have the same tempo! 🙌🏽

  1. My favourite fact about the whole big new gravitational wave news is that we could only do this NOW because we now know the precise position of the planet JUPITER! With a pulsar timing array you need to time the precise time that pulses arrive here on Earth, and if they change you know it’s due to a gravitational wave passing by. BUT the Earth is not stationary, it orbits the Sun which changes the arrival time of the pulses. So you need to know the exact position of the Earth compared to the stationary centre of the Solar System; which is NOT the centre of the Sun. Jupiter is so massive it pulls the centre of mass OUTSIDE the surface of the Sun, so to know where Earth is you also need to know where Jupiter is. It’s only thanks to the Juno probe (@nasajuno) in orbit around Jupiter since 2016 that we’ve been able to do this! 👩🏽‍💻 I’m Dr. Becky Smethurst, an astrophysicist at the University of Oxford (Christ Church). I love making videos about science with an unnatural level of enthusiasm. I like to focus on how we know things, not just what we know. And especially, the things we still don’t know. If you’ve ever wondered about something in space and couldn’t find an answer online - you can ask me! My day job is to do research into how supermassive black holes can affect the galaxies that they live in.   3. How do we define a second? It used to be as a fraction of the length of a day, i.e. how long it takes Earth to turn once on its axis. But that wasn’t precise enough for scientists, especially since the length of Earth’s day changes! So instead, since the 1950s the second has been defined by the number of spin transitions of electrons in a Caesium atom. 👩🏽‍💻 I’m Dr. Becky Smethurst, an astrophysicist at the University of Oxford (Christ Church).
