  2. This year has been the hardest, scariest, most challenging year of my whole life. There have been times I’ve genuinely felt so close to death. And if I’m honest sometimes the fear still creeps up on me, I automatically think the worst and it is going to take some time to retrain my brain. I had 2 major operations in the space of 6 weeks - a hysterectomy, bowel surgery and complex endometriosis surgery. Then a pulmonary embolism, a hypo, excess air in my abdomen, a foreign object left inside of me, I’ve spent most of 2022 in hospital and in bed, I’ve tried every pharmaceutical going and for anyone who knows me well you’ll know this is not me. But desperate times call for desperate measures. I was in constant agony, physical and mental, with turmoil every second of the day because of the pain. I will never forget those terrifying mornings. For the best part of six months, as soon as me eyes opened I would scream and cry; realising I was still alive and this was my life. It has been hell. Pure utter hell. I can’t even begin to explain. The surgery’s did not get me out of pain, the medications didn’t get me out of pain. So I made a final decision and took a route less travelled - for 6 weeks I have put my heart and soul into natural healing. I started to trust that my body has the ability to heal itself given the right tools and environment. Healing isn’t linear and it does not happen over night. Healing can take years. Endometriosis is described as benign cancer and one of the top 10 most painful conditions along side cancers and heart attacks. I believe endometriosis is an autoimmune response to something and figuring out that something is part of this journey. I hope to heal this disease and give all the knowledge I have learnt to help get other women out of this hell 🎗 #endo #endometriosis #endometriosisuk #endowarrior

  1. The art of getting ready with @besamecosmetics 💄💋 I have been a fan of @besamecosmetics for over 10 years (!) so it was an absolute dream to be able to try out their newly formulated cake mascara - what started as a quick road test became somewhat of a short film showcasing the joy of taking your time to get ready. A 3-in-1 product, this beautifully presented mascara can be used for lashes, liner and even brows, and is gentle on sensitive eyes. This product gives a beautifully natural look to the lashes and feels weightless to wear, and as a liner it is a gorgeous inky black with good staying power. I love applying this product as part of my ritual of getting ready - there’s something satisfying about working the water into the block and applying it just like the Hollywood starlets of yore. Here I’m also using Bésame’s Jasmine Setting Mist (which smells incredible!) and my favourite Bésame lipstick in Victory Red, applied with their retractable travel lip brush. To me, taking your time to do your makeup exactly as you like it is a form of self-care, and beautiful things should never be rushed. Bésame’s products never fail to immerse me in the world of vintage beauty, and this cake mascara too does exactly that. 1. Do not adjust your phone - yes this really is me 😁 I’m a 1950s girl from my underwear up! Yet having taken part in various fashion/historical shows showcasing other times I’ve been open to trying new things. So when @babeyond_official persuaded me to try the 1920s look I was excited to see whether I’d like it or not. Whenever I don’t wear petticoats I always feel like I’ve forgotten to put my underwear on 🤦🏾‍♀️😂😂 but I can assure you I do have the basics on 😁 And this beautiful dress makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time and are the centre of attention 🥰🍸 So appropriately I went off to a 1930s art deco restaurant @thegatsby_restaurant for dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The floor length dress is very well made and clearly designed to be worn for many special occasions and not just as a costume. Well lined so it doesn’t rub, fitted in all the right places and gold and silver sequins which don’t fall off.👌🏾👌🏾 I was also sent this gorgeous headband which was subtle enough to go with my dress. Its silver banding and black feathers are a great addition to this outfit and I teamed it with gold sparkly shoes and evening gloves. I received lots of compliments and I think I’ll be wearing it again to one of the many New Years parties I’ll be attending this year because it’s such a glamorous dress. Now tell me - what do you think? Are you in shock? 🤣 And Are you all open to trying new styles now and then? I’m still wedded to my 1950s but I will admit I do love this ✨✨ I was sent another dress so at some point I’ll showcase that one too - here’s a hint🦚😁 [Ad/gifted #babeyond] #modernlivingvintageloving #livingvintagelovinglife #love1950sfashion #madaboutpetticoats #blackpinups #diornewlook #vintagefashionnotvintagevalues

  2. My first two makes of 2025 are completed 🏆😁 Using the sumptuous brocade fabric kindly gifted by @longancraft I made an outfit for summer because this fabric just screams “field of flowers”. I’m so pleased because I’d always thought of brocade as a furnishing fabric and didn’t realise it’s got great potential in dressmaking. This feels sumptuous and elegant and it’s not heavy. I chose pattern B6992, and picked out the green for a contrast collar and then embroidered flowers on them. I used the green to make my own bias binding so I could match inside the neckline, pipe my pockets and make covered buttons and a matching waistband too. I was really pleased with this pattern because I have quite broad shoulders and a typical open shoulder, which is straight from collar to armpit, can expose mine too much. This then emphasises them.🤦🏾‍♀️(I resemble an American football player🤣). But this pattern has a lovely rounded/curved shape to the line which feels much less severe and more feminine to me. 🧵🪡 I’ve never worked with brocade before so used Longan Craft’s tips such as a very fine needle. I was also given the heads up by @sewvintageglam 👍🏾 that brocade can fray easily- and she’s not wrong 🤣 Whilst this wasn’t too bad I overlocked all my seams as soon as they were cut out, which definitely helped. Also staystitching areas like necklines and waists helped. This fabric gave me the opportunity to try new things like bound buttonholes. They’re a great way of forming solid buttonholes which won’t fray and look extra smart. I also lined the bodice and added Hong Kong seams just because I liked the idea of a splash of colour inside the skirt.💕 I finished it with a matching bolero by @gertie18 and my new clothing tags ✍🏾 for my own makes😂 🧵 I’m not being paid or receive commission from sales but the nice people at Longan Craft have given me a code “vintageloves” for my followers to claim 15% off when purchasing- so if you like lovely fabric then be sure to head over and treat yourself 👌👌 🧵 #longancraft #longancraftfabric #imadethis #modernlivingvintageloving #livingvintagelovinglife
