  1. “You cannot just go around eating anybody that you want to” “I CANNOT?” Working-line German Shepherds don’t "become" intense, they’re born that way 🐺 That deep voice joke lands because it touches something real: these dogs have serious hardware and serious drive, even when they’re being brushed, babied, or joking around. 🦷 A few things people don’t realize about working GSDs: • They’re genetically selected for grip, pressure, and follow-through • Their mouths are tools, not toys • A calm dog with teeth like this is the goal, not a suppressed one When I brush Odin and “lecture” him, I’m not correcting aggression. I’m reinforcing handling tolerance, impulse control, and neutral calm during close contact. That matters because: • Grooming is a vulnerability moment • Hands near the mouth must feel normal • Calm exposure prevents reactivity later Too many working dogs end up mislabeled as “dangerous” when the real issue is lack of structure during everyday handling. A shepherd that learns: ✔️ to be still ✔️ to be touched ✔️ to accept boundaries ✔️ to wait for permission …is a shepherd that can safely exist in the real world. Odin’s story has always been rescued ➝ rebuilt ➝ working, and rebuilding didn’t mean dulling his edge, it meant teaching him how to live with it.   2. This isn’t a modern dessert. And it isn’t a “diet recipe.” What you’re watching is a cheesecake that would have been immediately recognizable to medieval European nobility. Long before refined sugar, industrial flour, or packaged sweets existed. Medieval cheesecakes were built on eggs, fresh curds or soft cheese, honey, and dairy fat. Recipes recorded in late medieval and early Renaissance European cookbooks describe baked cheese dishes bound with eggs and lightly sweetened with honey or dried fruit. Not because they were indulgent, but because these were prestige foods made from the most valuable agricultural products of the time. Eggs were labor-intensive. Dairy required land, animals, and year-round management. Honey was precious and seasonal. These foods signaled wealth, stability, and control over resources. Which is why versions of baked cheesecakes appeared at noble tables, feasts, and monastic kitchens that served the upper classes. The texture tells the story. That dark, browned top. The sponge-like, airy, almost foamy structure. That comes from eggs, lots of them, doing the work that modern thickeners and flours now replace. No crust. No filler. Just structure created by protein and fat. This is slow food. Dense food. Food that ends hunger instead of provoking it. When you eat this way, deeply nourishing, historically normal foods, something shifts. You’re not chasing flavors. You’re not snacking endlessly. You’re not fighting your body. You start to understand why medieval elites could eat rich foods without constant excess: • Meals were finite • Ingredients were real • Satiety mattered more than stimulation • Eating was deliberate, not constant Weight loss wasn’t a goal, regulation was a byproduct of eating foods that actually satisfied. It’s not aggression. It’s not “being bad.” It’s how dogs naturally communicate, play, and regulate excitement. Puppies learn bite pressure from littermates. Working breeds keep this behavior longer because: • they’re highly driven • they’re mouth-oriented • they’re bred for grip and engagement • they process excitement physically When it’s untrained, it becomes a problem. When it’s guided, it becomes self-control.
