  1. have been a big fan of making various barks lately - ok i’ve tried two lol, cookie dough bark and strawb/pb/chocolate bark, but i loveddd em and have made them both a handful of times, so i obviously had to try the snickers bark that all the kids are making and it did nottttt disappoint. salty, sweet, crunchy, chewy - it is insaaaane. didn’t taste exactly like a snickers, bc you’re missing the best part which is obviously nougat. but it is veryyyy good. it’s real simple: pit and cut dates in half, smush em on a baking sheet lined w wax paper or parchment paper, spread some drizzly peanut butter over (costco brand is my fav), separately melt a cup of choc chips with a lil spoonful of coconut oil and some vanilla bean paste, spread chocolate on and sprinkle w flaky salt! i froze it for like an hour and chopped it up and am keeping it in a container in the fridge!

WELP this post has a ton of text but hopefully you all can find this info useful! 💗 It’s not a perfect system, but I think it’s a huge improvement from a single fit that’s actually graded on a women’s size chart only! (Or what some folks do *I believe*, say a design is “unisex” by using a men’s sizing chart instead!) There’s a lot of complexities surrounding this, but this is the method I’ve found best so far to make my designs more inclusive.   2. Day 10/10. There’s this common misconception that in order to have a sustainable wardrobe, you have to get rid of everything and start over with only slow fashion brands or only natural fibers. Well that’s just not true. Wearing what we already own will always be the more sustainable option. Yes, sometimes we can get bored with the items we already have. When that happens: - try it on and play with outfit combos. Try combos you would never pair together. Sometimes you can find a new go-to with the most unlikely combination. - play with the way you wear it. Try a front tuck or a full tuck, knot the tee, roll the sleeves, play with textures! - alter it to get the right fit, mend any holes, add embroidery to change up the vibe, or dye it to a color that would work better.   2. This is the fun part! Bleaching, toning and coloring takes me five or six hours altogether, so I actually cut it the next day because I was exhausted and it was getting dark! I started cutting my own hair in high school because I wanted scene kid hair, and my mom’s hairdresser couldn’t do it lol I’ve mostly cut it myself since then! I feel like my hair texture, and the way I style it, is a big reason why I’m able to do that, it’s very forgiving. Especially with this little shaggy green bob - it’s punk!   3. Consumerism drives discontentment. Suddenly old kitchen tools, materials from your recycling bin and a tipped over storage bin aren’t enough - you need a water table, maybe a wooden one. Suddenly your house doesn’t feel like home - you need wallpaper, you need pops of color, you need that one thing you saw on Pinterest. Suddenly the old toys that are played with daily aren’t enough - you need whatever toy that influencer has for her kid, after all she just seems like the perfect mother right? Suddenly your kids old hand me down clothes aren’t cute enough - you need organic cotton sets, limited edition t-shirts and barefoot shoes. Suddenly your clothes all suck - you need barrel jeans, you need to lose weight, you need a new haircut or the spring wardrobe you saw on TikTok shop. You get my point. I’m far from perfect but I’m definitely trying to actively fight against the need for things that function to suddenly be pretty or perfect. Obviously I buy stuff. I sold a ton of clothes that aren’t nursing friendly on Poshmark and bought linen pieces from a spring collection from my favorite Linen brand that would be perfect for pregnancy and the next few years of nursing. Did I NEED them? No. Will I beat myself up for buying something I want that was within my budget? No. We are all adults here so we don’t have to explain our spending to anyone. However, we cannot deny that social media drives consumerism, and consumerism almost always leads to discontentment.

  2. 🪼 The Jelly Top 🪼 [The Jelly Top pattern is now available! Link in bio 🥳] I am so excited to finally share this project!! After months of trial and error (lots of error), this top has finally come to life 🥹💚 This texture reminds me of Jellyfish, hence the name. I bought this yarn last year at Flock festival in Seattle.   3. I’m knitting 3 pieces for my wedding outfit in 3 months! Week 7✨ This week was tough 😭 working on the veil feels like such a slog and the cardigan didn’t turn out the way that I wanted it to (my fault, not the pattern). I found an alternate outfit for the courthouse wedding next week and I swatched for the next piece in the series so hopefully this week I can get back on track!! Wish me luck! Ngl, I have ✨not been feeling it✨ for the past two days. “It,” of course, meaning “having a body and a face and perceiving that body and face and also knowing that others are able to perceive that body and face.” Took a pic of my outfit yesterday and it’s just going to stay tucked in my camera roll. Today I thought I was going to have to go into the office for a meeting, but it was mercifully pushed til tomorrow. Not until after I got dressed though, so here’s where I landed. I thrifted this cardigan specifically to dye it with marigold @ritdye and I really love the way it turned out. The top is also thrifted, and as I was tucking it this morning I realized that that completely hid the exact thing that pulled me to it in the first place. And for what? So that I took up a little less visual space? 🙃 Pants are @beatonstudio and clogs are @jennikayne , both secondhand. Nothing else of note to say today, maybe tomorrow will be different! #75hardstylechallenge

  2. Have been having trouble getting dressed lately, but there’s a pretty good reason! The newest Katz kid is making their grand entrance this July. “They” say every pregnancy is different, and for better or worse it seems like “they” are right. Not that the first time around was a walk in the park, but I have found myself feeling incredibly exhausted and ill this round. I’m 17 weeks right now and finally feeling like I’m starting to turn a corner though! Mostly I’ve been wearing some version of this outfit lately- giant shirt, “fancy” sweatpants (thrifted these cashmere(?!) ones over the weekend), and slip on shoes. Nothing groundbreaking but I’m glad to be finding my groove. Also been grinding away at my MA thesis- will be soliciting interview subjects in the next few days, so keep your eyes peeled for that if you want to help a gal out! #17weeks
