What would happen if you removed the thought ‘anxious’ and just paid attention to these flickering sensations in the belly? What would happen if you took away the word ‘lonely’ and simply became fascinated with this heavy feeling in the heart area? What would happen if you deleted the concept ‘sick’ or ‘broken’ or ‘wrong’ and just got curious about the tightness in the throat the pressure in the head the ache in the shoulders? What would happen if you stopped looking for solutions and checked to see if there was actually a problem here? Come out of the exhausting storyline, friend. Come closer to yourself. Commit sacred awareness to a single living moment. Bring warmth to the tender place inside. Infuse sensation with the light of attention. Maybe it’s not as bad as you think. – Jeff Foste

“I am still every age that I have been. Because I was once a child, I am always a child. Because I was once a searching adolescent, given to moods and ecstasies, these are still part of me, and always will be... This does not mean that I ought to be trapped or enclosed in any of these ages... the delayed adolescent, the childish adult, but that they are in me to be drawn on; to forget is a form of suicide... Far too many people misunderstand what ‘putting away childish things’ means, and think that forgetting what it is like to think and feel and touch and smell and taste and see and hear like a three-year-old or a thirteen-year-old or a twenty-three-year-old means being grownup. When I’m with these people I, like the kids, feel that if this is what it means to be a grown-up, then I don’t

“To know how to grow old is the master work of wisdom, and one of the most difficult chapters in the great art of living.” – Herman Melville The first time I read it, this quote smacked me upside the head. Knowing how to grow old, the master work of wisdom? This has the ring of deep truth to me. Isn’t that what most of us #proagecreators are doing here? Figuring out HOW TO GROW OLD in a world that offers so much judgment, but also so much choice? 🤷♀️ For some of us, aging is about defiance: “I’m never growing old! Gonna fight it every step of the way!” For others, it’s about rueful acceptance: “I can’t help growing old, but I sure wish I could, ‘cause this sucks!” For still others, it’s about leaning in & redefining what it MEANS to grow old: “I will celebrate growing old as a natural pa

“Some days I am more wolf than woman, and I am still learning how to stop apologizing for my wild.” – Nikita Gill Every season is delicious in its own way, right? Summer, so languid and lazy and bee-buzzed. Autumn, all crisp energy and golden light, tinged with bittersweet nostalgia. Winter – cozy and contemplative, cocoon-like. And then there’s spring. Spring brings out my WILD. Been feeling almost feral lately. I want to howl at the moon and dance beneath the stars and wear daisies in my hair. 🌼 This is the springtime of my 60th year, and I intend to relish it. 🌷🌻🌺 I’m not apologizing for my age OR my wild. 😎 #silverhairproyect #proagerevolution #agewildly #naturalaging #nlpartner #naturalliving #springvibes #springstyle #bohostyle #whiteshirts #maxidress #silversisters #openlygray

If you’re looking for a distraction from all the serious and truly disturbing things happening in the world at the moment, this is your post! 😁 It’s about being 60. And wearing jeans. Simultaneously. 🤪 First off, I will never stop wearing jeans. I’ll probably be buried in them. So this is NOT about that. Recently, I needed to order a new pair of my favorite bootcuts. The ‘Sweet Boot’ from @luckybrand . (And no, they are not paying me.) The ones I’d been wearing for the past year or two just weren’t fitting quite right anymore. They were… tight. Tight-ISH, anyway. Tighter than I like them. My husband thought they looked great, but he’s a dude. 😂 I was uncomfortable. I needed a new pair. First, I told myself these jeans had slowly been shrinking in the wash. It happens, right? Then, I got

Got a couple of inches trimmed off my hair yesterday. I hadn’t had it cut in five months – for realz! – and boy, were my ends split. 😂 Feels good to shed some “weight,” though I’m in that weird, fresh-cut stage when your hair doesn’t know where it’s supposed to “bend.” But it’s still long enough for a ponytail – my daily do – so it’s all good! When I was a little girl in Alabama, most of the women my age – I’m 60 – went to the beauty parlor once a week to have their short, puffy coifs washed and set. Blue rinse optional. 😀 We’ve come a long way, baby. 😎 #naturalaging #nlpartner #silversisters #silversisterscommunity #openlygray #graypride #womensupportingwomen #ownyourage #thisis60 #proagerevolution

This morning, just for funsies, I googled the phrase “Feeling beautiful at 60.” The first two headlines that appeared were “How To Look Younger at 60” and “10 Anti-Aging Tricks to Look Younger for Seniors in Their 60s.” 😬 Ugh. Why must “beautiful” always mean “younger”? I don’t want to look younger! Why am I supposed to want that? 🤷♀️ Digging a bit deeper, I found a great discussion of the topic – on Reddit, of all places! – and this comment really spoke to me: “It takes effort and care but the solution comes from inside. First, you need to shift your idea of what is beautiful, and second, realize that beauty does not make a person valuable or worthy. “For the first, follow people on social media who are outside of the conventional notion of what beautiful means. Make sure you are looki
