The world can’t end just yet - I planted more tomatoes. Last to go in are these dwarf ones. They will reach about 1’ in height. Do you grow any dwarf/compact varieties? For me, the tomato ones are just for fun, it’s for the cucumbers I’m searching for a variety that I can compactly tuck in under insect cover to protect from cucumber beetles. Same for zucchini (oh the Squash Vine Borers). Let me know if you have any varieties in mind for these two. For stability on the bottom of the grow bag I added some wood chips from a Chip Drop my friend shared, soil was all from Walmart, since I don’t have any ready homemade compost at the moment. These are the absolute last tomatoes that went in the ground this spring. Since, a clump of the marigolds went in as well as a sprinkle of basil seeds. The L

🥔Just a reminder to start sprouting your potatoes now. I place them in a cardboard bag/ box along with onions for speedy sprouting. You can most definitely sprout grocery store potatoes too - just make sure that they are organic (yo avoid being sprayed with growth inhibiting chemicals). I usually plant 3 sprouting potatoes in a 15 gallon grow bag (triangle pattern). Fill grow bag with 6” of soil, place spouting potatoes inside and cover with another 6” of soil. Once green leaves are 4”-6” tall, add more soil and keep repeating this process over the growing season until soil reaches the top. This is also known as “hilling” your potatoes.
