BOOK✶REVIEW #ad much love for my finished copy The Regression Strain < @ Available Now Yoooooo! This was a fun one. The location - the plot - and them characters?? All five-star worthy. This is one of those books you pick up and won’t be able to put down until it’s finished. Though a sci-fi thriller I did find a lot of parts so relatable. Only one with a mask 😷- because nothing to fear here … right?! Oh, people. Hwang’s writing was just fab.. I see why this book has won awards. Seriously. Loved the isolated setting, no escape, nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. And something is happening here. 📖: “Dr. Peter Palma joins the medical team of the Paradise to treat passengers for minor ailments as the cruise ship sails across the Atlantic. But he soon discovers that something foul is festering under the veneer of leisure. Deep in the bowels of the ship, a vile affliction pits loved ones against each other and shatters the bonds of civil society. The brig fills with felons, the morgue with bodies, and the vacation becomes a nightmare. One by one, the chaos claims Peter’s allies. His mentor spirals into madness and the security chief fights a losing battle against anarchy. No help comes from the captain, who has an ego bigger than the ocean. With the ship racing toward an unprepared New York, the fate of humanity hinges on Peter’s deteriorating judgment. But he’s hallucinating and delirious...and sometimes primal urges are impossible to resist.” Def recommend it 💁🏼‍♀️

CALLING ALL BOOK CLUBS!! HERE IS YOUR NEXT READ! I promise it’ll be a great discussion and read. Experimental blood transfusions for anti-aging…it’s a whole new level of wtffffff. And I could not put this book down. I’ve been struggling with every book since I read this one. The Take by Kelly Yang is centered on two women: Maggie, dismissed for being too young, and Ingrid, dismissed for being too old. Two women on opposite ends of the spectrum, each have something to offer the other - 𝗒𝗈𝗎𝗋 𝗐𝗂𝗌𝖽𝗈𝗆 𝖿𝗈𝗋 𝗆𝗒 𝗒𝗈𝗎𝗍𝗁. They’re both at a turning point in their lives, both wanting what the other has. These characters - and their lives - will pull every emotion out of you. I’m a robot and I was feeling it all. Yang’s writing is sharp and engaging and begs for a larger conversation. One of my favorite themes in this book is the examination of the narrow window of time women are given to matter. We’re either too young or too old, and we never get the same grace boys do. It’s BS - and it’s one of the central tensions Yang builds the whole story around. I also loved that the story is based in the writing world - books, TV/film, etc. This aspect of the story made it such a fun read. What stood out to me the most was Ingrid. She knows women are worth more at every age - she feels this to her core - and yet, she treats Maggie (and everyone else) the exact same way she’s always despised being treated. Consciously or not, she repeats the very patterns she hates. I don’t think she even realizes she’s doing it; it’s something she’s internalized so deeply it’s become part of how she sees the world. This book was perfect - literally perfect. 𝕄𝕖𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕒𝕓𝕝𝕖: “I just love golf courses that violate the Fourteenth Amendment.” 😂😂👏🏼 I’ll be reading every Yang book now 👀

BOOK✶REVIEW #ad much love for my finished copy @berkleypub + @kayepublicity #partner & @prhaudio #partner for the ALC 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕻𝖑𝖆𝖈𝖊 𝖂𝖍𝖊𝖗𝖊 𝕿𝖍𝖊𝖞 𝕭𝖚𝖗𝖎𝖊𝖉 𝖄𝖔𝖚𝖗 𝕳𝖊𝖆𝖗𝖙 < @authorchristinahenry > ʀᴇʟᴇᴀꜱᴇꜱ ɴᴏᴠᴇᴍʙᴇʀ 𝟦, 𝟤𝟢𝟤𝟧 ᴀʟʟ ᴛʜᴇ ꜰᴋɪɴɢ ꜱᴛᴀʀꜱ 🌟 Grief pours from these pages .. a one-sitting read. This book will hit you deep in your soul and reverberate throughout your bones. 👻 Chilling. The McIntyre house is famously known as the abandoned and dangerous house. In the 1970’s Glen McIntyre brutally killed his wife and kids before hanging himself. Jessie, annoyed by her younger brother, dared him to go into that house for 30 minutes. But she will grow to regret that because she never sees her little brother again. The other two boys in the house with him when he disappeared said only that the monster in the closet got him. The house ate him. I loved the 1993 setting. Although I was only like 8 years old then, the book brought back memories of what life was like back then. If you were a teen in the 90’s you’ll enjoy this book for the nostalgia alone. But the plot will also keep you turning the pages late into the night. 🎧: Also listened to the audio while following along and this is def the type of book that the audio only enhances. Leiana Dooley does a phenomenal job bringing these characters to life. Her voice is soothing and just perfect. 2x easily. I loved the exploration of the weight of guilt you feel as a kid - when the guilt shouldn’t be yours to carry. The mistakes you made, the words you wished you never said, the dares you wish you never gave. And also the rumors that spread in small communities. While the chapters are a little long, you won’t even notice. You’ll be so consumed in this story. Seriously, so good. But it’ll also freak you out - I think this is the first or second book that actually made me want to turn the lights on 😂😭. Loved it. My fav song that kills me every time 😭💔 #kayepublicity #theplacewheretheyburiedyourheart #bookstagram #horrorbooks

BOOK✶TOUR #ad many thanks for my advance copy @uplitreads + @berkleypub #partner 🅰 🅼🅰🅿 🆃🅾 🅿🅰🆁🅰🅳🅸🆂🅴 < @susanmeissnerauthor > ʜᴀᴘᴘʏ ᴘᴜʙ ᴅᴀʏ Can we just take a moment to glorify this cover? Yep, we can! Perrrrrfection! A Map to Paradise by Susan Meissner is a historical fiction that’ll linger in your mind long after you’ve read the last page. It’s 1956 but all the glitz and glam isn’t anywhere to be found. Melanie is a starlight but her life is on pause when she gets to know her agoraphobia neighbor Elwood. But when she see’s Elwood’s sister-in-law digging in the man’s garden, and never sees the man again after, her and two other women go looking for answers. I loved this book so much. The friendship of the women - they trust but also don’t trust each other - was fascinating to watch. The writing takes you back in time and you can just immerse yourself in the story. While this is a historical read, it also gives vibes of the times. Meissner’s talent for writing shines here. While this was my first book by her, she has many other books that I’ll def be adding to my TBR list. 📖: “1956, Malibu, California: Something is not right on Paradise Circle.” “With her name on the Hollywood blacklist and her life on hold, starlet Melanie Cole has little choice in company. There is her next-door neighbor, Elwood, but the screenwriter’s agoraphobia allows for just short chats through open windows. He’s her sole confidante, though, as she and her housekeeper, Eva, an immigrant from war-torn Europe, rarely make conversation. Then one early morning Melanie and Eva spot Elwood’s sister-in-law and caretaker, June, digging in his beloved rose garden. After that they don’t see Elwood at all anymore. Where could a man who never leaves the house possibly have gone? As they try to find out if something has happened to him, unexpected secrets are revealed among all three women, leading to an alliance that seems the only way for any of them to hold on to what they can still call their own. But it’s a fragile pact and one little spark could send it all up in smoke…” #amaptoparadise #berkleypub #uplitreads
