  1. Monster workout completed. 🫡🤯🚀 130 km at a relentless 4:30/km avg pace — all at 2300m altitude, and at the very end of a grueling training camp. I’m usually very tough on myself in training, and it doesn’t happen often that I feel I’ve overachieved. But on this run and camp, I did. I’m very proud. Again, at 2300m, there’s the 7–9% slowdown compared to sea level. Which means this effort translates to ~4:15/km… So I ran three sub-3h marathons in a row. Some might call me insane for running this entire session on the track. And I get it. But for me, it’s meditative: just me, the lane, the rhythm, my own thoughts. Add the right music (Deep House/Trance for me), and I'm on another planet. I truly believe these 5 weeks in Kenya have built the engine, the confidence, and the speed I need to make a serious attack on the 24-hour world record — or at the very least, deliver one of the greatest 24-hour performances of all time. Of course, for a record like this, everything must align: the physical and mental state of the athlete, plus the elements of nature on race day.. And just a touch of luck and magic.. 3 weeks until 24H WC 🌍 Let's see what we can do. 👀

  2. My definition of a long run! 🤪 Training at 2400 m altitude is BRUTAL. The plan was to do 100 km today, but I felt like doing a little bit more just because. Today was a tough one. I would go as far as saying that this was probably one of the hardest training runs of my career. Not because of the distance but because of the circumstances. Of course it had to be the hottest day of the week right when I plan to do my long run. The heat was extreme and pushed me far beyond my sweet spot. During the afternoon I was really struggling to hold on to my desired 5:00 pace. The wind and the altitude meters made it even harder. As the sun was slowly setting, the temperatures dropped, allowing me to finish the last 20 km of my 120 km very, very strong. As a reward, I got blessed with a beautiful sunset and a sky full of stars. 💙 To me that's what it's all about. Pushing myself all damn day and then reaping the rewards!!! Tomorrow is a well-deserved restday before we go back to the drawing board on tuesday. Hellweek 2.0 is approaching.

  3. 125 km long run #1 completed. Doing training sessions like this after 3 weeks of intense camp is absolute madness. Still, when my mind and body are getting challenged the most, that's where I perform at my best. Always have been. It was difficult from 12 to 4 pm. The Kamariny Stadium was blazing hot. It was challenging to maintain that 5:00 pace, but I put on my Star Wars headband, listened to some intense deep house music, and forced myself to keep going. The best part about today? Tomorrow it starts all over again. Back-to-back 125 km runs on the menu. In exactly 20 days I’ve ran 875 km. If I can finish running 125 km tomorrow, then I’ll have run 1000 km in 3 weeks. This makes for an average of 333,33 km/week. We'll see what happens tomorrow. I have never ever done something like this before in training. It's hellweek for a reason.
