It seems like everyone and their cousin on the internet are running campaigns with influencers for their brands. But how do they find these relevant influencers? You can’t just work with anyone. The right influencer will know how to convey your brand’s personality with engaging content. They will also have the right audience for your brand—no point in advertising to people who are not likely to buy your product, right?

Luckily, our years of experience in influencer marketing can guide you in choosing the right search tool for your brand.

Here are 8 influencer search tools that will help you find the right partners for your brand.

8 influencer search tools to find relevant influencers

  1. Modash
  2. Promoty
  3. Upfluence
  4. #paid
  5. HypeAuditor
  6. Pitch Box
  7. Heepsy
  8. Klear

1. Modash

Modash has the largest influencer database of 200M+ influencers on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. It has a discovery tool with advanced filtering to find the right influencer with the right audience for your brand.

Platforms covered: Instagram, YouTube, TikTok

Free trial: Yes, 14 days

Pricing: Starts from $99/month (paid annually) or $109/month (paid monthly). View pricing.

Using Modash, you can find any creator on Earth with 1k+ followers on Instagram/TikTok/YouTube. Your perfect partners are definitely in the database, so all you have to do is apply fliters to find them. There are filters available for things like:

  • Follower range
  • Engagement rate
  • Fake followers
  • Bio keywords
  • Hashtags used
  • Audience age & gender
  • Audience locations
  • Audience languages

... and more.

You can even find rapidly growing influencers by filtering for follower growth rate, and use the influencer lookalike tool to try finding people similar to your top performers.

Outside of influencer searching, Modash can also assist with analysis, outreach, and monitoring. Here's a few non-exhaustive examples of influencer marketing tasks Modash can help with:

  • Shortlisting influencers & tracking outreach statuses
  • Finding & exporting influencer contact details in bulk
  • Automating the collection of influencer content (e.g. auto-saving Stories)
  • Analyzing campaign performance
  • Tracking mandatory hashtags & disclosures

There's a 14-day free trial without restrictions to give everything a spin, and a dedicated customer success team to help you maximize the tool.

2. Promoty

Promoty offers influencer marketing tools for effective campaign management, giving you detailed statistics on every post, direct from Instagram.

Platforms covered: Instagram

Free trial: Yes

Pricing: Starting from €299/month

Promoty’s influencer search feature has filters for interests, audience, or Instagram metrics, as well as their audience’s age, location, gender, or interests. This helps you take the guesswork out of who to work with by only presenting you with influencers with a relevant audience. Gain further insight into potential collaborators with relevant Instagram metrics, follower growth, follower credibility, interests, past collaborations, notable followers, and similar profiles.

As you search, you can add potential collaborators to a categorized list. When you’re ready to contact them, you can do so directly from the app, and manage your campaigns as well as payouts from there, too.

One downside of Promoty is that the platform only covers Instagram.

3. Upfluence

This full-service influencer marketing platform comes at a higher price, but includes more features overall. Their database lists around 1M influencers.

Platforms covered: Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, TikTok, Twitch, Twitter, + blogs

Free trial: No

Pricing: On request

Upfluence’ is a well-known influencer marketing platform with a broad range of features. Their discovery tool is great in scope of platforms, covering all the major channels plus blogs. It's limited in size, however, in comparison to some of the other platforms on this list. This is because influencers need to apply to be approved to be listed on their database, which means you are missing out on a lot of untapped potential.

Upfluence offers an agency/SaaS hybrid model. That means a hands-off approach that saves you the trouble of doing all the searching yourself, but you can expect to pay a premium for this.

Other features include a social listening tool, real-time statistics on your campaigns, and managing affiliates.

Pricing is available on request, but seems to start around $800-$1000/month based on conversations we've had with existing & past users. If that's too expensive, see here for Upfluence alternatives, including how tools like Modash compare.

4. #paid

#paid pairs brands and pre-vetted creators to get your influencer marketing campaign up and running quickly.

Platforms covered: Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok

Free trial: Yes

Pricing: From $499/month, with an initial 3-month minimum commitment

#paid prides itself on its human approach to influencer discovery. Once you’ve searched and contacted the influencers you’re interested in working with, they respond with a “hand raise” together with a written message detailing why they think they would be a good fit for your brand and what their strategy would be.

What does “vetted” actually mean? A team goes through submitted pitches from influencers before you ever see them. They look at the influencer's background, audience, and past content. They look at the “hand raise” message to see what they’re actually offering. Then you’re presented with a list of influencers relevant to your brand. While this may take time, you’re ultimately saving time in the end because you haven’t had to go through hundreds of searches to get close to what you’re looking for. The drawback, of course, is that because influencers need to be vetted, #paid’s database is limited.

If you're finding influencers at scale, or in a specific niche or specific location, you might find you run out of talent pretty quick - and see the same faces come up in every search.

5. HypeAuditor

HypeAuditor is an all-in-one influencer marketing platform with pricing starting from $399/month.

Platforms covered: Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok

Free trial: A free plan lets you use very basic features

Pricing: $399/month+

HypeAuditor offers an influencer search tool, with a database of 50M influencers. Along with the typical search filters, you can search for accounts that mention your brand and work with influencers already talking about you. Or, find your best customers and let them become your brand ambassadors. Or, search by audience location, age, gender, interests, and ethnicity to make sure your message will get to the right audience. Through a keyword search, you’ll be able to find influencers in a specific niche, with a high follower growth rate, or a rising star with a more affordable rate. With a lookalike search, you can expand your influencer network with more creators that are similar to your best-performing influencers.

6. PitchBox

Pitchbox focuses on blogs rather than social media for influencer discovery and marketing.

Free trial: No

Pricing: On request

PitchBox offers a simple discovery tool with its proprietary scoring algorithm. It analyzes more than 100 data points to rank bloggers by OEP (Outreach Engagement Probability). After, you can filter through names, social profiles, demographics, and published materials to learn more about them. The platform also integrates with SEO tools like Moz, SEMrush, and Majestic which give you SEO metrics for link vetting.

7. Heepsy

Heepsy is specifically designed to help you find influencers. Advanced search filters allow for precise results, and once your list is ready, it can be exported.

Influencers listed: 11M+

Platforms covered: Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Twitch

Free trial: Yes

Pricing: Starting from $49/month

Heepsy’s aim is to save you time and money in your influencer discovery. Its advanced filters let you search for specific handles, keywords, engagement rate, location, and the list goes on. This tool is especially useful if you’re looking to work with micro-influencers to target a niche audience. Audience searches are a breeze for looking at demographics and authenticity. The AI-powered search engine learns to analyze influencer profiles and content and then segments the results based on your search criteria.

8. Klear

Klear’s AI-powered discovery tool saves you time by finding relevant results without the need for extensive filtering.

Platforms covered: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, + blogs

Free trial: Some limited free tools are available, but no trial for the main platform

Pricing: On request

Klear is trying to simplify influencer searching by using AI & reducing the need for extra filtering. Categories for searching are narrowed down to 12 filters, like mentions, location, and audience demographics. Once you’ve got your results, you can dive further into each influencer to learn more about them. Klear shows engagement level, not engagement rate, which is broken down into categories like average and outstanding and then paired together with numbers about engagement type. Klear then scores influencers, as well as each social channel. The AI also checks for fake followers and engagement, to make sure your campaigns are reaching actual humans.

How to choose your influencer search tool

It’s all well and good to have a list of features for different tools in front of you, but how do you really choose? Obviously, it depends on your brand, its size, and your marketing goals, but here are a few other criteria to keep in mind when choosing the best influencer search tool for your brand.

  1. How much does it cost? Money is probably one of the most important factors, if not the most important, in choosing the right platform. If you’re a small business or just starting out on your influencer marketing journey, your budget may be limited. Why not choose a platform that offers a free trial before you commit to a plan?
  1. Search filters. Again, it depends on the type of influencer you’re looking for. For some brands, a few basic filters may do the trick, but other brands may need something more sophisticated.
  1. How large is the database? Look for platforms with large databases. Platforms with vetted influencers will have a significantly smaller database to choose from because influencers need to apply to be listed. And make sure they have a fake follower tool. What good is working with an influencer with 100K followers, if half of them are fake?
  1. Is it easy to use? You may find the most powerful platform out there, but if it’s difficult or confusing to use, you will spend more time learning how to use it to get the most out of it, than actually finding influencers.
