Whether on screen or out on the streets, there’s a good chance you’ve seen her work without realizing it, slowly changing Tokyo’s visual language one project at a time.  sabukaru had the opportunity to visit her home studio in Tokyo, chatting about her career, pet dog Tororo, and what’s to come for the talented artist, all the while checking her cozy studio out.  Outside of graphic design, the Japanese artist also has her hands in directing visuals and helping communicate others’ identities, which led to AsahiNa founding TREATMENT [@treatment_asia], a multi-disciplinary art project.  “We named it TREATMENT to act as if it’s liquid, connecting different creative businesses. I want to create fluid movements that respond to social issues and frustrations” —AsahiNa on founding TREATMENT ASIA.  A first for the Japanese artist and her art project, TREATMENT ASIA will be making its debut in the west, via this year’s COMPLEXCON [@complexcon]. The Labyrinth 2023に参加して頂いた皆様ありがとうございました。 開催が近づくにつれて睡眠時間が短くなり、アドレナリンが出たまま事前の設営、3日間のプログラム、清掃・撤収までを終え、巨大な肩の荷が降りました。無事に全てを終えて心からホッとしております。 個人としては21年目。今回も開催に向けて例年よりも多くのハードルがあり、その中で運営と音楽の準備を進めるのは時間的にも精神的にも負荷の高い工程で、ここには書き切れません。まだまだ今後向き合わなくてはいけないこともたくさんありますが、ひとつずつ丁寧に対応し、改善して行きたいと思ってます。 会場の雰囲気、巨大なサウンドシステムと共に過ごした会場の雰囲気は本当に素晴らしく、来場者、出演者、スタッフとオーガナイザー全員で作り出した時間は言葉では表現できない特別なもので、改めてこの先もこの聖域を守って行きたいという気持ちで感無量になりました。LabyrinthはSNSで画面を通して見るものでも、記事を通して読むものでもなく、現場で身体で体験するものに他なりません。来年も多くの大切な友人達があの場所に集まってくれることを願ってます。 また来年、宝台樹でお会いしましょう。 ありがとうございました。 Photo by @kimishita
