The death of #GeorgeFloyd has awaken the memories of the past brutalities and enslavement against the black race worldwide. The black race has always been undermined amongst nations. I want to remind my South African brothers and sisters that ALL BLACK LIVES MATTER. An African can’t be a foreigner in Africa, let us stop 🛑 this self hate. Now listen, when we say #blacklivesmatter, we are not saying white lives don’t matter or all lives don’t matter. We are expressing our frustration: treat us the same way you treat your family. The question white people need to be asking themselves in this moment; “What is in my heart about black people? And how did it get there?” There’s a lot of people who say im cool with everybody! How cool are you? Are you cool enough to let your white daughter marry a black man? Such uncomfortable conversations need to take place in our homes amongst ourselves. While we witness what’s happening worldwide, let us not forget the death of #CollinsKhoza, #ElmaRobynMontsumi, #SibusisoAmos, #PetrusMiggels and others. The systematic racism (unquestioned social systems, laws and regulations) is also silently killing a lot of black people and is one of the reasons why we are undermined. Let us not just look for justice but let’s not rest until the systems change #ICantBreathe
