The king kloof hiking trail is in Muldersdrift, R50 adults and R25 for kiddies and they also have a restaurant on the farm. They have various trails, the shortest trail being a 6km trail and the longest being their 27km route. I’m so glad to have finally started treatment and it wasn’t as scary as I imagined. I’m not in control of what happens next, but so far so good. Thank you friends for making this possible.

  2. 3 weeks ago I went in for a routine mammogram and snapped this pic to post to my stories when I got home - Breast Cancer Awareness month and all that. Except after the mammogram they sent me for an ultrasound and then they swiftly booked me for a biopsy and then it all became a bit too real. The next day as I was walking to my car after the Woman&Home event, I got a call that changed my life - my biopsy showed carcinoma. The next few days were a blur of consults, blood tests, MRI, breast MRI and then I was admitted for a lung biopsy to determine if the cancer had spread beyond my breast and to insert a port for chemo. Unfortunately we didn’t get the news we prayed for and it has spread to my lungs. This is all such a shock and I’ve had quite a hard time believing they gave this diagnosis - Stage 4 triple negative breast cancer - to the right person. I’ve had no symptoms and have no family history. On the bright side, the doc told me that I have a ‘young person’s tumour’ so there’s that. Right now I’m recovering from the thoracotomy and will begin treatment soon. I haven’t decided how much I’ll share about this yet, but as news has spread I thought it’s time to share an update. I couldn’t have got through these past few weeks without all the prayers and meals and messages, so thank you guys. Choosing to believe in a miracle.

  3. I owe so many massive thank yous to so many people who have contributed to my BackaBuddy campaign. Thank you. I don’t actually have the words. I’ve felt overwhelmed by the generous contributions and the kindness has almost been too much to bear. This particular thank you is to my friend @lerato_moahloli who has taken Kira to Joburg for the next 8 days as Kira and Siyo are dancing in The Nutcracker with @capeballetafrica at Montecasino. I’m feeling really sad that I couldn’t join them for this much anticipated adventure but from the smiles in these pics, you can see how stoked Kira was for this trip with her ballet bestie - with, or without mom. Thank you friend (& good luck!) x
