Read below ⬇️🫶🏽 THIS MADE MY HEART SO HAPPY ❤️🖤🤍 As a big travel bug and nomad, I LOVE experiencing different cultures and practices, however I have been on such a big journey learning about “cultural appropriation” and “cultural appreciation”. I have asked many people from many different cultures/backgrounds what their thoughts are on sharing their culture, and their thoughts on people outside of their culture embracing it. The response is always the same - it depends on the intention behind it. “Are you doing it in a derogatory way?” “Are you making a mockery of it?” “Are you mis-representing the culture?” “Are you taking it out of context, or using it as a costume?” “Are you celebrating the culture, or centering yourself in it” “Are you being harmful in any way?” If you found yourself answering yes to any of these, the chances are, your heart is not in the right place. As a lifestyle/travel creator with a large platform I have always been super reluctant to embrace a culture “TOO MUCH” in the fear that it would be perceived the wrong way. This little moment we shared with our beautiful new friends, de-bunked so many of my fears, and questions about the world 🌎☺️ and while I understand reasons for wanting to protect a culture as to keep it sacred - it’s so heart-warming to know that if you are the right person, with the right heart, many cultures would LOVE to share with you. ❤️ @courtnee.amorangi 💕 @mariaamorangi 💕 @jakekneesh 💕

  1. Lovelies. Well. Some not great news. I’ve been diagnosed with stage 4 Mantle Cell Lymphoma—a rare and fast-moving blood cancer. It’s serious, but I’ve started one of the best treatments available (the Nordic protocol), and I’m lucky to be getting absolutely world-class care here in Melbourne. I won’t sugar-coat it: it’s rough. But I’m hopeful. I’m being lovingly cared for by friends and family, my medical team is brilliant, and I’ve never felt more held by the people around me. I’ll be lying very low while my immune system takes a hammering, so if you see me out and about—don’t hug me, kiss me, or breathe anywhere near me! Wave enthusiastically from a safe distance and know I love you madly. This is an obscure cancer and was only discovered incidentally via a breast screen where they found my lymph nodes were up. TBH, I’ve been feeling pretty ratshit for ages. So I asked for extra bloods and - voila! So the take away is - get tested and listen to your body! For now, just know I’m in good hands, good spirits—but I reserve my yuman right to be a cranky old moll. Love you all, Mags 🩷🙏🩷👩‍🦲

  1. 🇵🇸 FROM GADIGAL TO GAZA 🇵🇸 Like the tens of thousands of others who gathered across the country yesterday to peacefully protest the arrival of Isaac Herzog — president of the rogue state of Israel — I am left dumbfounded, disturbed and disgusted by the brutal, unprovoked state violence that unfolded. Innocent people from many and diverse backgrounds were tear-gassed, shoved, and harassed by police. First Nations leaders were assaulted. Muslims were beaten as they prayed. Even elected officials were injured. Mainstream media outlets have mocked what transpired with frontpage headlines like “globalising the ignoramus”. Before the Gadigal rally began, choppers were flying low overhead, polluting the air with noise unnecessarily, spelling an ominous warning. NSW premier Chris Minns has since defended the actions of police, arguing missing context. The only thing missing is his honest leadership and personal accountability. We can all but hope that the horrific scenes captured by witnesses serve as a wake up call and jolt more hitherto unmoved bystanders into action. We are past the point of federal and state governments turning against their own people. Let us not turn against each other. They cannot stop us showing up and growing in numbers, no matter how hard they try. They can silence a handful of us, but they cannot silence all of us. Keep fighting. Keep making noise.   3. I have spent over half my life fighting for the rights and safety of children. I do not advocate violence. I do not advocate antisemitism, Islamaphobia, or hatred of any kind. We’re at the point where a federal MP has called for me to be investigated by police, another two have called for my Australian of the Year Award to be rescinded, and the premier of NSW has linked me to the Bondi massacre — all because I said a phrase that isn’t illegal, whilst addressing a peaceful protest. In that same speech, I also said that our communal weapons are compassion and love. This message has been completely lost. Meanwhile, our leaders are entertaining Isaac Herzog, the president of a state facing allegations of genocide in Gaza at the International Court of Justice, who himself stands credibly accused of war crimes. If the political and media classes are genuinely committed to ensuring that language doesn’t lead to violence, perhaps they should start with him. As I’ve already said, I’m not the story. For the record, I’m staunchly anti-violence and anti-racism in every form. This is not the first time I’ve been made a villain for speaking out. It is however the first time I’ve been cast in a worse light than a criminal state. In the pursuit of justice, proportion, fairness, and truth, I refuse to be silent.
