Before The Rush The weather played very nicely this morning with the showers we experienced overnight abating to provide near-perfect flying conditions in which to capture one of the city's most beautiful constructions in recent years: the stunning Kangaroo Point Green Bridge✨ Arriving nice and early allowed plenty of time to scope out potential shooting perspectives with practically no one else around which is conducive to easy drone work, with these being the pick of the crop from both the drone and the Pixel📷 My early arrival also provided the opportunity to chat with one of the Besix Watpac representatives who was arranging for the hoarding to be taken down, and to ensure the bridge and access ramps were in pristine condition🧹 The @brisbane.lordmayor Adrian Schrinner will officially open this new pedestrian and cycle bridge linking Kangaroo Point with the CBD with the ceremony beginning at 0800 and the first crossing being possible at approximately 0830🚶‍♀️ Not only did the skies clear, but the changing light today at dawn was rather fetching, as the sunrise painted the clouds washing across the city in beautiful pastels making for a colourful backdrop⛅ I am keenly looking forward to enjoying my first crossing later today, and will of course be snapping lots of views to allow everyone unable to visit today or in the near future a few glimpses of what to expect😉 Have yourselves a happy and relaxing Sunday friends, and cheers🥂 to the new bridge being ready to enjoy😀

We're the ones that they knock down and we get up again. I said earlier this week that this weather may break our hearts and it is doing that but it will not break our will and in the coming weeks and in the coming months we are going to prove that beyond any doubt. A Sign A clear sky morning with a balmy 20° first thing today is a sign to get out and enjoy the first day of Autumn☀️ For the last few weeks the overnight temperatures have been so much more pleasant than what we had experienced during summer, so fingers crossed it remains that way and we don't get one of those sneaky late hot periods when Summer doesn't seem to want to finish😉 Today found me at the cultural forecourt at the Brisbane sign, which was deserted at this time of day, and perfect for taking photos without all those pesky people in the way😂 The lawn surrounding the sign has once more been re-turfed and was blocked off with rope to prevent people walking in it before it has a chance to toughen up🌿 The other benefits of arriving nice and early with no runners or walkers around is that I could send the drone up to gain that small increase in elevation required to not show the orange bollards and ropes... To get a pleasant balance when taking photos of the Brisbane sign one requires a little patience as the lights are in a constant state of colour flux, the colours slowly cycle across the letters. I was actually hoping for some blue, but this still worked out quite nicely Have yourselves a wonderful start to the new month and the new season my friends - and for goodness sake get outside and take in this glorious subtropical weather 👌

  2. Do you know how empowering it is when you stop giving a f#%k what anyone else thinks and you just go an live your best damn life? I do 😉 At the beginning of this year I started on a journey of putting me first, filling my cup, embracing my feminine energy and getting back to what makes my heart sing ❤️ I joined @burlesquelamour with the hopes of doing something to push me outside of my comfort zone but what I’ve gained is so much more and it makes my heart so happy! I’ve gained a new found love for my body, just the way it is (wobbly bits and all) for what it can do, the way it can move, it’s ability to remember routines (sometimes 😉)… I’ve found a tribe of women who are the ultimate hype girls (listen to them in the background) but perhaps the thing I love the most is that I’ve lost the need to impress anyone but myself. I’ve always been so worried about what people say or think about me and my dance journey has helped me let it go and it feels so damn good! I was quietly shitting my pants about tonight, I did about 17 nervous wee’s (that’s not fun when you’re wearing 17 layers of clothing to hold said wobbly bits in) 😂 but tonight we were encouraged to step out of our comfort zones, dress up and perform our routines in small groups for the rest of our class. Was I perfect? Nope, far from it but did I love it? HECK YES and I can’t wait to do it again! So here’s a big shoutout to my dance fam, my beautiful teachers @jordynleejames @hayleysagex @bekgeorgiou the space you’ve created at Burlesque Lamour is changing womens lives, including mine, thank you 😘😘

From 2018 Amalie spent a number of years based at Monash University in Melbourne, working on the RISE action-research program, which is working at the intersections of health, environment, and water and sanitation, trialling a new water sensitive approach to water and sanitation management in 24 informal settlements across Indonesia and Fiji. In addition to her practice Amalie has served as AILA Queensland President and National Board member. In 2018 she was elected a Fellow and has also tutored frequently in both landscape and architecture at Queensland University of Technology, the University of Queensland and the University of Newcastle. She is the author of Future Park: imagining tomorrow’s urban parks, commissioned by CSIRO Publishing, and is a regular conference speaker on the subject of parks and integrated water management. We are excited for this new chapter in our Brisbane Studio and to work with Amalie as a talented and engaging Studio principal as she focuses on collaboratively created regenerative urban waterways.
