  2. ❓Do you ever look at your version of a combo & wonder why it doesn’t look like the teacher’s? The devil is in the details! Let @indipoledances show you how she takes a sequence from flat to fancy ➡️ 💥 P.S. Interestingly these techniques are often forgotten in choreo classes or instructors may not be aware of the details & thus don’t teach them! But don’t worry, @indipoledances will let you in on her secrets to elevating any sequence (version 1 of this video compared to version 2). 📌 1. Posture. While this isn’t the way I hold my posture in everyday life, during dance I focus on having a proud chest & arched back & leaning into the hip of the base leg. This is especially so in finishing & starting positions where you’re creating a pose, but it also applies to transitions, where you’ll hit a beautiful shape in the viewers eye even though you’re just passing through. 📌 2. Level changes. Even in a standing sequence like this, I add level changes to add interest & texture. Basework can start to look flat without it & changing levels will mean you hit different & purposeful shapes throughout. You’ll see in this sequence I go: low > high > low > high > low > high - all in this one short sequence. Go high by fully engaging & straightening the legs & pushing up away from the floor & breathing in to lift the chest & head & go low by bending the knees (you may also want to let the chest & head relax). 📌 3. Arm pathways. I could go on about arm pathways for days (just ask my students). Focusing on arm pathways was a game changer for me! In Basework we often only need one hand on the pole so I can trace beautiful pathways with my arms in the same way I do with my legs. I think of painting the air with my hands & following the natural way my arms want to go. Relax the fingers & think of your fingers as a paintbrush casually painting through space. To elevate your dance, don’t be afraid to focus on the details & repeat things 1000 times! If these were helpful, please share! ✨

  3. What’s always inspired me about Calabrese culture is that it doesn’t matter whether you’ve known someone for years or just met them… somehow, you instantly feel like family. There’s a warmth, a connection, and a sense of home that’s hard to explain unless you’ve lived it. That’s exactly how I felt the first time I met @nonnateresakitchen_ We’ve wanted to cook together again for such a long time, and we finally got the chance. I still remember trying these biscuits the very first day we met, and honestly, I’ve thought about them ever since. This little powerhouse has brought not only tradition to Instagram, but a deep love for family, hospitality, and the joy of feeding the people around her. The way she cooks huge meals with so much heart is something truly inspiring. You are absolutely one of a kind, Nonna Teresa. Thank you for welcoming me into your kitchen and sharing a little piece of your world with me ❤️ Biscoff & Nutella Crescent Biscuits Ingredients • 1kg self-raising flour • 1 cup caster sugar • 3 eggs • Zest of 1 lemon, finely grated • 250g unsalted butter, melted • 200g sour cream • Biscoff spread • Nutella • Icing sugar, for dusting Method 1. Preheat oven to 170°C fan-forced and line trays with baking paper. 2. In a large bowl, combine flour and sugar. Add eggs, melted butter, sour cream, and lemon zest. Mix until a soft dough forms. 3. Divide dough into portions and roll each one out flat on a lightly floured bench. 4. Place a round plate over the dough and, using a pastry cutter or knife, cut around it to form a large circle. 5. Cut the circle into triangles, like slicing a pizza. 6. Place a small dollop of your chosen spread at the wider end of each triangle. We used Biscoff and Nutella. 7. Roll each triangle from the wide end toward the point to form little half-moon crescents. 8. Place onto lined trays and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until lightly kissed brown. 9. Cool slightly and dust generously with icing sugar. Perfect with coffee and impossible to stop at one. Huge thank you to superstar @emmanuel.dibartolo youre the star behind all of this. What a blessing you are ❤️ #italian #calabrese

  2. I can honestly say that the past two weeks or so has been the most testing, challenging, exhausting, terrifying, fun and rewarding of my career working in film. So many mixed emotions. Getting on three flights to get here just after heavily injuring my back, eleven straight days of travel and shooting, catching a flu first day on the island, faulty and damaged equipment from travel, heat and humidity, fogged ports and water housing, blisters and sea ulcers on my feet and this wave in the photo that terrified me. Sleepless nights laying in bed hearing the ocean and feeling its power from my bed knowing that I will be swimming it in the morning. I learned a lot about myself in this time, some good, some bad but at the end of the day I developed just a little more resilience, confidence and maybe patience. I took one more step up in learning how to be my better self, things I don’t like about myself and how to face my fears. I always feel like I could have been better, for me that’s very common and I tend to beat myself up over it. But, it is the only way I know how to learn is through experience, repetition and pushing and giving a little more each time. I can’t express enough the respect I have for the absolute gladiators that surf these waves with no fear and absolute beauty. @wispy_ @elguerito amazing stuff to watch and capture from the best seat in the house. @charliecullenphoto you bloody hell man photographer. An absolute honor, can’t thank all three of you enough for the mental support. Special thanks to @mctavishsurf for sending us over here and for an incredible experience and thank you so much @aurasurfresort for your flawless hospitality and making us feel welcome. Most of all @wispy_ Thanks bro. #cinematography #cinematographer #dop #film #filmmaker #filmmaking #surf #surfing #surfphotography #ocean
