  2. The week after Christmas we lost 2 babies 💔 It’s one of those things that feels strange to say and to talk about, but if you’ve ever lost a baby, you know that pretending it never happened is just not an option. I’ve miscarried before - between Sadie and Macey - and I know how healing it was for me to share our story then and the connections I made with others in the same boat, so here it is. The last few months have been an absolute rollercoaster. From the joy of finding out I was pregnant to the exhaustion and sickness that came next, then the shock of our lives with a side of total panic when we found out it was twins! Eventually I started warming to the reality of 2 babies at once and having 5 kids 🤯 only to then start feeling better, sooner than what is typical for me, but we were in the middle of Christmas so I pushed it aside until a couple of days after Christmas when my body started to let go. I was just on 12 weeks. Then there was the nervous anticipation of what was to come - after having a previous miscarriage I knew what to expect but this time was I much further along and with 2 babies so the fear of the unknown was rough. Once the physical side was over, and thankfully was very straightforward, the scan that was supposed to be the one before we told everyone our exciting news became the one where we were told that there was nothing there. Even though I knew in my heart that it was over, there is always a glimmer of hope that you hold onto until you are told otherwise. Now we are dealing with all of the emotions and feelings that come with a loss. The sadness that we won’t be bringing any babies home this winter like we expected. Being almost annoyed about feeling terrible for so long for nothing. Feeling a small amount of relief that we don’t have to worry about the potential complications of a twin pregnancy and having to double up on everything but then feeling guilty for feeling that. And feeling extremely nervous at even the thought of attempting to try again. But for now, we are holding close the babies we are so grateful that we have ❤️ #miscarriage #pregnancyloss #twinmiscarriage

  3. 📣📣Sorry but the truth needs to be told. . A Pro card isn’t a license or a certificate in nutrition and coaching! . Unfortunately I have come across many beginners in our sport who thinks pro athletes are automatically qualified to coach and write diet plans. The truth is coaching is not a joke it’s a very serious job that requires knowledge and experience. . This is a big issue and it’s affecting many young athletes who are going to unqualified coaches through social media marketing and they are getting ruined in the process and in many cases they end up leaving the sport very shortly. . Just recently I have seen few diet plans from some of so called coaches that I wouldn’t recommend to my cat 🐈 in terms of calories and the source of calories. . Young athletes needs to understand that in any sport to reach your goals you need to take the right steps and work with the right trainer/coach. . To me a coach is equal in importance to a doctor and while a doctor can’t make mistakes that can cost someone dearly a coach can also destroy your health and body if he /she isn’t qualified. . If you come across a coach who prescribes you coco pops, and high sugar cereals or empty carbs in your diet 8 weeks out of a show know that you are in the wrong hands and if he tries to bully you just let me know haha. . .Be careful and be smart👍 you are an athlete not a baby . #onelife #onebody #besmart #useyourbrain #bodybuilding #bodygoals #fitness #coaching #nutritioncoach #nutritionist #knowledge #experience

  3. Realised from some dms that I’ve been sharing small snippets of my daughter’s epilepsy journey, but have never really given you guys an official update. So here’s a little summary 🥰 Just over a year ago (Jan 2023), our wild middle child/eldest daughter, Manawanui, was diagnosed with Epilepsy. It started off with a few seizures in Dec 2022 (which initially we weren’t sure if they were actually seizures) that quickly began to increase in frequency and duration. After a trip to ED and an eeg test, we got the epilepsy diagnosis and began our journey with medication. It’s a journey because treating epilepsy with medication can be quite a unique process as not all medications work and there can be a lengthy process to find the right dosage. (We were increasing on a bi weekly basis for a long time). We had an MRI in July last year which showed Manawanui has what looks to be a focal cortical dysplasia on her right temporal lobe - basically a spot on her brain that didn’t form correctly. This spot/lesion correlates with her seizure presentation and eeg report so we can say with confidence that this is what is causing her seizures. With this news, and because up until late August last year, Manawanui was still having about 1-2 seizures a fortnight while on medication, we found out that she is a candidate for neuro surgery. Neuro (brain) surgery has a really good chance of helping Manawanui live a seizure free life without medication, but obviously comes with its risks. That being said, since October last year, we feel that we may have found the right medication and dose to control her seizures 😅 To help us make an informed decision and learn more about her brain, this week she’s spent the week in starship hooked up to an eeg machine and under medical supervision we reduced medication for them to observe and record a seizure. It will be a while before we get the full report from this week, but once it is ready, we’ll discuss all the pros and cons in more detail with the neuro doctor and go from there. Overall, my husband and I are feeling super positive 🥰 Ultimately, we will have to make a pretty big decision… (cont in comments👇🏼)

  3. It’s hard to put into words what @zambesisince79 means to me - more than just a fashion brand that has resonated with me since I was a teenager, the strength of community @elisabethfindlay has built around Zambesi is remarkable. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Miraculously, I convinced my mother to buy my first piece of Zambesi for my 15th birthday. It was a big ask for Mum who was funding my education on her own but that piece still hangs in me wardrobe as fashionably relevant and pristine as the day I received it. Since then I’ve been fortunate to be part of the #zamfam for many years, and have countless pieces of Zambesi in my wardrobe because they are timeless, beautifully crafted and unlike any other. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The first time I met Liz I dreamt she would make my wedding dress, and some ten years later she designed and handcrafted a bespoke wedding gown that took my breath away. She also custom made the gown I wore the @nzfashionweek runway last week - a piece I have witnessed 3 of my best girlfriends get married in and that I will treasure forever. I was also very fortunate to work with the Zam team for over ten years, creating some very special memories of our own. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To feel honoured to be part of the #zamfam and walk the runway to commemorate their vision is an understatement. A truly family-run business that has my heart, as do the people behind it @elisabethfindlay @nevlay @marissafindlay @daynemjohnston Congratulations on 40 years of humbleness, inclusiveness, and the finest damn collections this country has ever seen. @zambesisince79 we adore you 🖤
