  3. Last week I had a procedure done at the doctor. He gave me the option of having “laughing gas” to take the pain away while he was doing said procedure. I held the nozzle in my hand and the pain hit straight away, but for some reason, I didn’t take the gas. I had my jaw clenched and my body stiffened up, he look up at me and said “you don’t have to be brave DJ, use the gas”! So I did. Straight inhaled it like I did when I was a little kid with my head out the car window. He carried on to say “so many people try to tough this out, but pain is pain, you don’t have to suffer in order to protect your dignity, I’m not going to judge you for seeking help. It’s sore and you shouldn’t have to sit through it if there’s another option”! Actual mind blown. Are you a psychologist as well sir? When you’re struggling, when you feel terrible, unhappy, broken and sad, it’s 100% ok to get help and to get better. You don’t have to be brave and tough it out. You don’t have to meet the expectations of this world and do what they “recommend” you should. You, my friend, are allowed to do WHATEVER it takes to get better, be healthy, be happy. If people in your life have an issue with it, the issue is within them, it’s not about you. Own your decision to do what is best for you sis!!!! In April 2019, I had the vertical sleeve gastrectomy, to reduce the size of my stomach and help get myself healthy. Today, 20months later, I am sitting at 68kg, I am strong, I love my life, I am happier than I have ever been before and I’m free! Regardless of what anyone thinks about my decision, I would do it 1000 times again. I have zero regrets. And if you’re thinking of heading down the same path and have struggled to find support, DM me, I’ll be your biggest cheerleader x #vsg #vsgjourney #vsgcommunity #vsgnz #weightlossjourney #weightloss #health #healthylifestyle #ownyourlife #proud #journey #dontsuffer #changes #changestartswithyou

  1. Might be cheesy to some of you following me so if you have any negativity towards this please just unfollow me because I’m gonna be posting a lot more stuff like this. Cheers xo So when I was about 12 Years old I started to learn about depression, anxiety and other mental health topics through school and my own research. Personally I was struggling back then like many others and the bullying didn’t help. So my outlet for my anxiety and this feeling I couldn’t describe was sports so I could be around other like minded people who enjoy the same things as myself. Everything went great for a while until I started thinking about how I wasn’t the best at what I did and how I could be better and this became toxic. I started doing more and more different sports and trained at least twice a day every day, sometime three times a day. I thought all this sport and being in peak physical condition was awesome, I could do almost anything. I remember at multiple stages of my life where I thought I just wanna be like my dad, he’s so good at everything. So me and dad did some gym training at home and did callisthenics too, while still doing all my other training. Training in the gym was what I probably enjoyed the most compared to everything else I did. So to link in the pics from above about 6 months after the pic in the green singlet I was upset all the time and hated myself... That was when I quit running and had on off stopped swimming competitively, it was having a negative impact on me. All I’m trying to say is go out and do what you wanna do and what makes you happy, don’t waste your time trying to impress him or her and just focus on yourself. I train because it’s me vs myself it’s not just an outlet for my anxiety and stress or depression, it’s where I’m my happiest and in pain the most at the same time. I’m not saying the gym is the best thing for everybody we are all different and reaching out for help and talking about this is just as important so reach out to your mates and family if you need it or even to check on them from time to time because you never know what anyone is going through. You are all unique go be yourself 🤙🏽

  2. THE PLAN?! Kia ora again Whanau! Here’s a visual representation of what we’re getting up to on the big day. We are planning to start from the lakefront in Qt at 8pm on the 31st. Heading from there up to the single cone summit of Remarks (weather permitting). Coming back down the Remarks access road would be an excellent time to join in for anyone who wants some downhill action. From there at what we estimate will be around 3-4am we will be making the slog from Remarks to Coronet via Dalefield. We anticipate this section to be the most tedious and so if there are any night owls out there we’d love for you to join us for some Koreros. Cutting up Hot Rod (mtb track) and onto the access road we will be making a push for the summit of Coronet. We anticipate we will summit Coronet at around 10-11am before heading back down the access road and through Arthurs Point to make our final ascent up Ben Lomond. Ben Lomond is going to be the most tedious of all and this is where we want to encourage as many of you as possible to join on and get those deep Koreros flowing. We will aim to be at the summit of Lomond at 4-5pm before making the descent back down and finishing up in town around 6.30pm. While we appreciate many of you will be working, we’d absolutely love for you all to join in when you can whether that be before or after work. Bonus points if you take the day off 🤙 Here’s some estimated stats for the nerds; Distance: 104km Vert: 5050m Mountains: 3 Legs: 4 Mana: through the roof!
