  2. The day a homeless guy from Crewe became part of my stand up comedy show! Last weekend was so surreal, I hit the 2 years sober mark on Saturday and the universe chose that day for me and this guy to meet, he made the night that bit more special by randomly becoming my double act in the show. He ended up not only coming to the show, but through a funny turn of events getting the royal box, then practically becoming my comedy sidekick. Was a night of sharing laughs, jokes and stories, in a weird way it felt like it was meant to happen and reminded me that we are all connected no matter what our situation in life and how easy it is to change someones day by just noticing them. Comedy changed my life and every now and then it changes someone else’s day, its a privilege to be able to do it. Happy Saturday all , I know it’s not officially Autumn but couldn’t wait to start decorating 🍂 🍁 I did the shower pole trick again to hang the garlands , I tried this last year with our Christmas garland & worked really well plus saves having to make holes in the brick! Garlands are from Amazon and I added faux acorn stems and some greenery that I already had. It’s so easy to do , I added a garland across the top of the pole and then hung one down either each side , I use cable ties to make them extra secure. Once the garlands are hung I then add on the individual picks.   2. IKEA hack week 🛠 🧰 I love an IKEA hack! So thought this week I’d share one a day that we’ve tried. Yesterday I shared @ikeauk LOHALS rug hack if you want to check out my last post. Today is another @ikeauk IVAR hack , we made a kitchen pantry with 2 cabinets and bought another 2 to turn into wall cupboards for our utility makeover. Once assembled we attached to the wall with heavy duty hollow wall anchors. These cabinets are heavy ,so if mounted you need to make sure they’re well secured.   3. IKEA hack week 🛠 🧰 I love an IKEA hack! So thought this week I’d share one a day that we’ve tried. Yesterday I shared the Billy bookcase hack if you want to check out my last post. Today is the @ikeauk LOHALS rug that I gave a little makeover to a couple of years ago ➡️ I made a ➕ template out of cardboard and used left over black paint to create a Swiss Cross rug ➕ for our son’s room.   3. So today this happened… Tommy’s teacher phoned us, excited… “I had to call. We’ve just gotten back from bike riding, and there aren’t many moments these days where teachers get to feel the way I did today. This was my golden nugget and, as it’s my birthday, it truly made my day. The boys were amazing. They loved it. Smiles the whole way, happy, comfortable, and working together like a team. I was bursting with pride the entire time we were there, and I can’t wait to send you the pictures.” I may have refreshed the school app 50 times before they finally arrived, and they didn’t disappoint 😭 Tommy used to be such a trigger for Jude, causing meltdowns so intense that for the last 10 years they’ve lived apart. That’s how much Jude struggled, how difficult it was for them to even be in the same room together. If you’d have told me 10 years ago that they’d be riding a bike together, smiling and laughing I never would have believed you. Something like that was so far beyond the realms of possibility in my mind. But slowly, with lots of patience, adaptations, support from school, and a whole lot of growth from both boys, here we are. Getting to enjoy moments like this. Tommy and Jude, just out having fun together on their bike. And the ironic thing is, neither of them can ride a bike alone, but together they managed it. Through teamwork. Being brothers 🚲 ❤️ #nonverbalautism #autismdad #autismmom #autismparents #autismfamily
