  2. My baby is 6 months old and I honestly don’t know where the time has gone. Trying to reflect on the last half year and all I can think of right now is our time here in Rabaul these last five weeks. This right here is my village. Our land here has four houses, my mum’s, her eldest sister, youngest sister and her younger brother. Their children and their grandchildren all live with them also. We are surrounded by family constantly, and when you have young children, they quickly learn that you are not their only “mummy”. They do not only have one “papu” (grandma/grandpa) and the terms aunt, uncle, cousin etc just don’t exist here. My kids are so loved and adored. My son being the baby is everyone’s baby. Every morning his big brothers are already waiting at the door to carry him out by 6am. His other Papus are calling out from their house to have him next. I am simply the one who feeds him and puts him to sleep. Other than that I apparently have no business keeping him to myself. I am incredibly blessed to be surrounded by so much love and support both here in PNG and back in Aus with my beautiful Tongan and Australian family, especially in the first year of my baby’s life. Trying to soak in these last few days here before we say goodbye but I’m dreading the end, knowing that their hearts are already breaking at the thought that their little baby is going soon and the next time they’ll see him he won’t remember them. But they’ll remember him. And he’ll have these videos and my stories about his time back home. 🌺🥥

  3. Truly the best and hardest years of my life. If I don’t laugh at myself genuinely forgetting how old I am I’ll probably cry. And when do we as mothers forget our children’s ages because my mum also not knowing has me in stitches 🤣

On Christmas day we had a trip out to Fisherman's Island to spend the day and celebrate Christmas day there. Upon arrival back to Pom at dusk, we went for our annual Christmas dinner at the beautiful Sanctuary Hotel.
