J’ai dû me retrouver, me prioriser. J’apprends. À me connaître. - Cam 🤍

  1. I’m a police wife, but before I became a police wife, I have always admired and had the utmost respect for our front lines. I’ll always be a huge advocate for the training + safety of our police officers. Police officers are human. They make mistakes like we do, and some of them quite frankly, should never be police officers. Being an advocate doesn’t mean I turn a blind eye when something goes wrong. Today something went seriously wrong. Between posting the number of police officers being murdered in cold blood today, some of our own made an extremely terrible mistake that cost 4 lives. I’m not sure of this person’s context, however I took it as they were surprised at me blaming the police. I’m not necessarily blaming the police, I’m criticizing the system. Here’s my response. “Yes I am, suspect apprehension pursuit driving is one of the most dangerous public safety risk management issues that exist. Officers are trained no matter the criminal risk, a pursuit should never ever put public lives in danger. That pursuit was likely called off at least once. At the end of the day, the police have to take responsibility for their actions and if the officers hadn’t of pushed that suspect vehicle, the suspect vehicle would most likely have not reached the speeds it did, causing the crash. The police would have likely had good video and witnesses from the LCBO, there was no need to escalate the crisis and put lives in danger. More so than anything, I put blame on the policing environment. We advocate increasing police training. These things (officers being stabbed, unable to organize a crime scene) wouldn’t be happening as frequently as they are and will continue to happen at accelerating rates with new and young officers lacking proper training + supervision.” We’ve been at a crippling turning point for several years and are starting to see the impacts. There’s huge problems. Officers are not being given the proper training. Officers are lacking proper supervision. Could this situation been prevented? Absolutely. Do I think there was a better solution? Absolutely. Do I think this is an armchair quarterback conversation? Absolutely not…… to be continued.

  2. As some noticed, I am absent from the Christmas card sent from the Premier’s Office. I missing because I chose not to be in it, however this doesn’t have any impact on my relationship with my family or my dad. I love my family. We’re in much different positions. The last 3 years has been tremendously difficult for my family, just like everyone else’s family. We have ALL endured A LOT. Unfortunately, while many things are becoming good again and people are healing from the traumas over the last 3 years, there’s something terribly wrong still that doesn’t sit well inside me. We have a medical crisis on our hands, to the point where we are calling in the Red Cross while some of our highly trained medical professionals that have been wrongfully terminated or have resigned due to unethical mandates sit on the sidelines, ready and willing to go back to work. Big mistakes have been made over the last few years. I am not pointing blame at anyone. We truly lived through unprecedented times and unprecedented things were done. With that, very serious lines were crossed and mistakes were made. Now that the tables have turned and science of this virus and 🦠 💉 are understood more clearly, I feel it is only right to address the wrongdoings and offer careers back to those who held out for more information and clinical trials to show results that prove the mandates never worked to slow spread or transmission, thus, making 💉 a personal choice like they always should have been. Sitting out of the Christmas card from the Premiers Office for a second year is unfortunate but I can only pray that one day, my very, very small actions will spark a group of people in ivory towers to think about what has been done and how we can start making amends and heal our broken nation. If you’re still reading this, I pray you take this energy and put it towards something in your life that is meaningful to you, despite how bold it may be or how uncomfortable it may make you feel. We can all make a difference if we make an effort. Sometimes the effort isn’t an easy one and sometimes it requires standing alone. I encourage you to stand to your convictions🙏🏼 #GodWins 📸 @sandramonacophoto

  3. I’d like to take this opportunity to announce my retirement from competitive skating 🤍 I am filled with gratitude for having represented Canada internationally for 13 years. My career was filled with extreme highs and some tumultuous lows and it certainly wasn’t perfect; nor was I. I hope to be remembered as a good teammate; as somebody who won with class and lost with dignity. Most of all, I hope you remember me as a fighter; for my performances, for my people, for what’s right. Even if it got me into trouble a time or two 😜 My eternal thanks go to my family; their constant support and sacrifice allowed me to live my dreams. To Beckey, for being the best friend there ever was; who felt every high and low with me. To Liam, for putting in all of the heavy lifting for the last four years; for always being able to make me laugh. Thank you to our support staff for keeping us together physically and mentally. To Pat Magee, especially, for working so hard for us from anywhere in the world. To Jodie and Alexia, for reminding me what I deserve. To Skate Oakville, for the amazing support. I am so grateful for my past coaches and partners. Thanks, Dylan Moscovitch for carrying me, literally, through the first half of my career. To Julie Marcotte, who is responsible for much of our growth as people and skaters. Our creation process will forever be some of my favourite memories. Mark Pillay was my first and last pair choreographer and a fantastic mentor. There are not enough words to express my love, respect, and admiration for the coaching team that saw us through to the end. Thank you, Brian Shales for some of our most fun lessons. Most of all, to Bruno Marcotte and Alison Purkiss, for seeing me at my lowest and believing in me anyways; for caring about us as humans first, and athletes second. My career has been more enjoyable and worthwhile with them as coaches and mentors. Finally, it has been the honour of my life to skate with Mike; thank you for all that you are. I have no regrets, and will cherish the memories forever. Thank you, fans and friends, for your support all these years. I’ll see you in the stands as I assume my new role as everybody’s #1 fan 🥰

  1. After 372 days & 3900km (2145km crow flies) I hiked out of the fog to Cape Pine Lighthouse to complete Expedition Northeast. A 6 year dream was realized. What a rip in the wilderness. It was journey that just kept on going. Canoe, snowshoe, bike & hike through one of the planets last great wild areas. Up and down raging rivers, along blazing hot fly infested portages, over tundra, barrens, marshes and mountains, across sketchy frozen waterways, deep snowy woods, stabbed with -50 degrees celsius, and flying along a highway that's as remote as it gets. Seen nearly all wildlife possible. From Pine Marten to the mighty Moose, Musk Ox, Bears and more. Monster fish, fresh meat galore. This is a scratch of the surface. Life is fun and for the taking. I won't soon forget what just happened. As good as it was a rest has been both appreciated and a shock to the system. Getting back in civilized order takes a minute! New routines. More than one spoon! Leaving doors open! Forgetting where things are in the house! Can only laugh and keep er going. All part of it. The year was long and demanding. Often painful. So now it's only to mend while enjoying the luxuries of home. With youthlike giddiness I look forward to sharing the full story. 4 seasons of travel, mostly alone, (had Saku for 5 of 12 months), from the isolated far north shores of Hudson Bay at the top of Quebec to the secluded Cape Pine at the bottom Newfoundland. The longest solo journey ever attempted across Northeast Canada (Quebec, Labrador and Newfoundland) is now complete. Met countless wonderful humans during my resupplies. Documented some of their own outdoor stories too. Thanks to everyone for the suppport. You know who you are! Cant wait to piece this baby together. It will be a rare glimpse into an intimate encounter with Canada's glorious nature. More to come. 📸 of me & Saku at NL's most southern tip, Cape Pine, with partner Royal Canadian Geographic's flag. 2. Fist pump baby, it's game time. We're on the move to the wild tundra far up in northern Quebec. As tricky as it was planning for a continuous 4 season trip, the easy part is done. Now the real work and fun begins. Big thanks to Heather and my family for supporting, believing, and encouraging my dream. Of course I'm gonna miss them like hell. But in life if you got the itch to roam, you gotta spread your wings and fly. Saku's that eager he's about to bust out of his cage! Expedition Northeast - the first and longest expedition to traverse Northeast Canada starts in a few days. Saku and I will cross the wilderness of Quebec, Labrador and Newfoundland on a very demanding route. Hudson Bay to the south coast of Newfoundland. Some of the most remote and greatest nature left on the planet. Imagine how beautiful it's gonna be! Could take 4000km and a year. I'm not going to sugarcoat it. This will be the most difficult and thrilling trip of my life. Unknowns galore. It will be living. Onward and upward! I'll post GPS updates on my social media channels as the journey progresses. #expeditionnortheast #lifeisbetteroutdoors #believe #anythingispossible #explorecanada Huge thanks to my expedition partners. 3. Nearly 5 years in the making - I'm excited to share my next project: Expedition Northeast - a never before attempted continuous crossing of northeast Canada. 1 Year / 4 seasons, roughly 3800km. Departing from Hudson Bay this July. Canoeing, snowshoeing, backpacking, rafting. Upriver, downriver, across lakes, ponds, ocean, hills, valleys, bogs, barrens, and mountains. I will be posting GPS updates en route. Saku will join me for the warmer seasons. During the sub-arctic winter, I'll likely be solo. Biggest objective is to complete the route in 12 months by my own power while experiencing and documenting all 4 northern seasons. I want to live simply and in harmony with nature. This has been a dream of mine ever since I struck ice in northern Quebec in 2018. I told myself the next time freeze-up comes, I'll be ready to continue on throughout winter. It is not redemption. It is not to prove anything. It is a new journey. I just love the wilderness and all the exciting challenges that come along with it. I wanted to start further north above the treeline on the tundra of the Ungava Peninsula and include Newfoundland. Of course, I also want to bring everyone along and get you fired up for the outdoors. I am hungry and motivated. Here we go. More details coming soon including live and online presentations. #lifeisbetteroutdoors #explorecanada #expeditionnortheast #believe Expedition Partners: Major: @capital.subaru Angler Solutions https://www.anglersolutions.ca/ Patreon team: https://www.patreon.com/justinbarbour @lowa.canada Minor: @lureofthenorth / @lotn.outfitters @bending_branches @barneyssportschalet Alaska @thespinnerman @ruffwear @weldonknives
