  2. Oh, so this is why we call it the Sunshine Coast.. Exploring the beach at golden hour with B & E in this most magical place was literally what dreams are made of. I’ve spent my whole life living in British Columbia and I’ve never seen a place like this here. The air is so calming that it takes over your whole soul.. and the birds are PAID ACTORS I tell ya. I think back to these long, warm summer evenings often and I’m feeling SO excited to return here in May (and honestly, even though my travel is pretty jam packed this year I want to find a way to squeeze in another trip here in August too). There’s nothing quite like it and my soul has been craving this place ever since I left. Only a few more months until I have the honour of documenting C & J in this magical golden light for their wedding day at the end of May!! 🥹 AND YES I have one session spot open for the beautiful Sunshine Coast on May 23rd for golden hour so let’s get in the water please and thanks!! ✨

Floppy hats with long veils will forever be a favourite combo.. especially in desert golden hour light 🌵 ✨ Travelling to Arizona last November wasn’t enough winter desert time for me so I’m heading back again at the end of this year.. twice. I cannot wait to be back in Joshua Tree and Scottsdale this October + November!! Speaking of deserts.. I’m also eyeing up Drumheller, AB early October 2024! I have availability for one session and one elopement while I’m there - and I’ll be in Edmonton, AB around the same time as well! This year is full of so much travel and I’m so grateful. 🥹

  3. 7 days, 7 nights, a couple of ambulance trips, some pretty strong meds and an unexpected spine surgery later, I am finally home. ❤️ And so, what was supposed to be a photo dump from a very anticipated trip to Europe to see @sabrinacarpenter with my sister, apparently life had other plans for me this week. Last Friday, I was at the airport, just about to head through security when I collapsed from the most amount of pain I’ve ever experienced in my life. Everything felt like a blur and before I knew it, I was on my way to the hospital in an ambulance, unable to walk, about to find out that I would be awaiting emergency spine surgery. What was initially supposed to be a 3-4 week wait, bedridden in a hospital room, by some sort of miracle turned into only waiting for 5 days. I know there’s a lot to be said about our healthcare system but I feel extremely lucky with the care, reassurance and love I’ve received from both hospitals in a time when I needed it the most. My family and friends dropped everything to be at my care and I am so beyond fortunate. The surgery went perfectly and I woke up with absolutely no more pain. It’s like it had just vanished instantly. My surgeon told me that this could have never been fixed with anything but surgery and it was a good thing I came in when I did before permanent damage started setting in. I woke up today and WALKED (and cried because I could walk again) and while I’m finally on the road to recovery, this week has shown me that as a control freak, sometimes things are simply just out of my control and I need to let the universe handle it. And the universe did just that. Thank you for all of your kind messages, I’ve read them all and most of them have made me tear up. I never once felt alone this week and I appreciate that more than any of you will ever know.

Just like the thaali tied around her neck and the kungumam applied on her forehead, the metti signifies that she is a sumangali, a married woman whose husband is alive. Beyond its visible symbolism, the metti carries deep spiritual and health related meanings in Tamil tradition. Traditionally, the metti is worn on the second toe of both feet. It is believed that a nerve in this toe connects to the uterus and heart, helping regulate a woman’s menstrual cycles and reproductive health. The rings are usually made of silver, a metal known to conduct energy, allowing positive vibrations from the earth to flow through the body and keep the wearer emotionally and spiritually balanced. In essence, the metti grounds the woman, representing humility, stability, and the divine feminine energy within her. Before placing the metti on the bride’s toes, the groom applies kungumam (vermilion) to the same spot. This act sanctifies the moment and symbolizes purity, prosperity, and the blessings of Goddess Shakti. Applying kungumam transforms the ritual into a sacred union of energies, invoking divine protection and harmony in their married life. When the groom then places the metti on her toes, it represents not submission but mutual respect, the acknowledgment that marriage is a partnership bound by spiritual, emotional, and earthly ties. Together, the kungumam and metti complete one of the most meaningful rituals of a Tamil Hindu wedding, sealing the couple’s bond both physically and spiritually.

  3. I don’t even know where to begin—I’m truly at a loss for words because this may be the hardest thing I’ve ever faced. Tenisha and I were best friends before anything else. She was a very private person, but if you were fortunate enough to be in her circle, she would do anything for you. She guided me through so many stages of life, always there with support and advice. Tenisha’s smile and personality could light up any room. She was warm, approachable, and had this genuine quality, but she could also be real and firm when needed. Like any relationship, we had our ups and downs, but one thing we never missed on was the joy of bringing our son, Chase, into this world. We had this pact to give Chase the greatest life we could imagine. I know you see a lot of photos of me and him, but make no mistake—he was absolutely a mama’s boy. You didn’t play when it came to him.
